Bets I've done while drinking tonight

Alright guys. Some of you may recognise me - I've joined in many a conversation over the years - some of you may not. I read JA606 every day though, but probably don't join in as much as I used to. Sorry, I love keeping up with you guys.
But I thought I'd tell you about what happened tonight when I went out for a curry with some of my closest mates.
There were 10 of us and over the course of the night football was brought up; then the Man U, Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and even an Everton fan all started their usual b*hit.
Tottenham apparently have NO chance of finishing in the top 4, we are just the same as other years and all us fans are getting ahead of ourselves as usual apparently.
Anyway, ended up with me betting two fans £50 that Tottenham would finish in the top 4 and and a £50 bet that Tottenham would be above the 'Pool at the end of the season. This year bets all on video.
Anyway, have I tried to back my team against the doubters, or am I getting above my station while on the sauce?
