Wigan in Florida

For the last 7 days Wigan have been warm weather training in Florida, this is a complete change from last year when they trained with the Royal Marines in freezing temperatures.
Kris Radlinsky has put on a daily Blog which makes very interesting reading and it explains the daily grind and also fun things that happened. Not quite the Jolly in the sun that some Wigan supporters expected.
Below is his Blog day 1 to Day 7.

The old days of a few laps around the suburbian streets and off to the pub every Tue/Thur have definately gone.
The poor buggers don't even get a half an orange during the break now because it's not good for you, and where we weren't allowed water because it would cause a stitch, they now pump the fluids into you....How times have changed over the years.

Also Rabbits the days of players drinking umpteen pints after the game as well are certainly over from i can see in the bars afterwards, well at pro and semi pro level at least.

Ya right B-F, I've occasionally had tickets that get you into the after match bar awaiting for the players chatting over a beer or two and they stick to the bottled water/juice.
I'd imagine those that like a beer might have a couple on a Monday or so but not like the 60's - 70's...horses for courses I suppose, they get paid very good money to stay in good shape.....

Can't understand why these teams insist on training abroad in the sweltering heat and sunshine when we very rarely get a temp above 24deg and sunshine for more that 4 hours aday. You should train in the environment in which you play in except for that 1 game at Catalans.

Northern, look at the fitness they will gain in a 2 hour heat condition compared to a chilly 2 hour session back home.

Warrington are arriving in OZ for a couple of weeks running the sand dunes of Wanda and playing a couple of trials in the heat....I'll be putting my money on them finishing the better in a tight 80min game come rounds 1 to 4 that's for sure.
