In January???
Like the title states, do we need to dip into the transfer funds and purchase some new recruits for areas we need strengthening?
or
Do we promote the youth prospects to the first team bench? Players like Coady or Sterling.
or
Do we need to recall players back from their respective loans? Players like Pacheco or Aquilani.
What are your thoughts fellow Red's?
Purchase, Promote or Recall......

The problem, inevitably, is that we are not in the Champions League. Why would Lavezzi, Cavani and particularly Gomez leave their CL last 16 clubs when we can't even offer them Europa League football? The same, unfortunately, applies to Fernando Llorente, who i've always rated. Yet we clearly need another striker, for a) if Suarez gets banned and b) because Carroll isn't firing.
So I would argue that we should buy shrewdly on the cheap. Look at Bellamy and what a signing he's been. And it was a no-risk strategy - he didn't cost a penny. That's why a signing like that would be better than a risky expensive signing, e.g. Carroll.

Want to see a forward purchased or loaned who can hit the back of the net and benefit from the chances Suarez can create. Not to worried about leaving £35mill on the bench, as Kenny said we have bought him for 5 years.
The amount of chances we are missing is the difference between sitting 6th and not 3rd.
I would also ask the FA to consider a small increase in the size of the goal.

Yes, we need a pacey stiker who can score !
The problem is our pickings are slim, you can probably rule out any striker currently in the Champions league. This leaves us with the premier league strikers out side the top 6 and Everton and more or less everyone in the Europa league bar Man Utd and Man City.
As many of said, even with a Darren Bent, we would probably be third.

Although an expensive option I find it hard to look past Cheick Tiote if we want a good DM.
Up front, if Suarez gets a ban, then it might be that Carroll will get the chance to show or go.
Bent would, of course, score for anyone.
Forget Fernando Llorente, I heard him on the radio just last week reaffirming he could never leave Bilbao, and remember this is a guuy who's already told both Barca and Real not to bother even asking.

Firstly I would be pleased if we signed Darren Bent. He scores goals. Some argue that he does little else, but then again most goalscorers dont. I'd love us to get Hernandez, he is much the same only he has a snazzier name. However I cant see us getting him for a penny less than the amount Villa paid for him 12 months ago.
I also think that promoting is worthwhile. There are players there capable of filling in. Yes they are not ready for regular first team action but the likes of Flannagan and Robinson have shown the youngsters can be relied upon to come and do a job for a few games if needed. And that all aids their development in the long term.
I think we need a striker as there arent too many decent options at any level at our club.
I also STILL (!!) think we need a wide player. Maybe not necessarily a winger. But a player like Bellamy for the longer term.

Oh, what about Bobby Zamora?

He is getting on a bit, and he hasnt really been much of a goalscorer at the highest level.
Plus after watching him play in the Europa the other day I thought his attitude was poor. Particularly when he said to the manager to sub one of his team mates for 'not being good enough' when Zamora was the worst player on the pitch at that point. I hate egos that do that to teammates.

So who are our options?
Bent.
Cavani.
Lavezzi.
Damiao.
Messi ()
How about a loan bid for that Cuenca chap from Barca?
