Since many are claiming the use of the word "Negrito" was borne of ignorance and was used in a friendly well intentioned manner I would like to gather some further evidence so that an informed decision can be made on whether this was the case.
Using a similar timeframe between the arrival of Suarez and the incident in question, I would like the residents of Liverpool on this board to use the word "Negrito" in a friendly well intentioned manner in their everyday interactions.
Please report back the results on how the people of Liverpool reacted to this word over the course of the next 10 months on 21/10/2012
Can you help conduct an experiment?

Have a read of this, the comment right at the bottom sums the whole thing up

That's the 'quote' that appeared in a South American newspaper that the British press drew their speculation from!
I'll ask again, post a link to Suarez admitting using the word negrito or negro.

Suarez was tried by an independent panel.....they require evidence to be brought and they make the decision....that has happened
All week many fans (LFC and other) have referred to that interview and the reports surrounding it almost as fact. Most of the argument (99%) has been on how it is interpreted, translated, the context of its use etc....now you are questioning that that interview ever happened and Suarez never said it, just because Suarez lost the case.

How about you do the experiment properly yourself? Try going to Iran, Afghanistan, Nigeria or several other countries, and when you get there, give someone a friendly "thumbs up" sign. That's perfectly acceptable behaviour, isn't it?

Great point, you are 100% correct, just about every LFC fan

"UR A GAY", stated in a derogatory way implying being gay is somehow bad.
"I quoted something that ... says", just because something is acceptable elsewhere doesn't mean its acceptable here... isn't that the line when it comes to suarez. another fact for you, the simpsons is based in america. in america the word negro isn't classed as offensive to the point where official US census forms include the word negro for people who identify themselves with that tag.

I think the only person or set of people that quote is making fun of is Homer.

i don't think you're homophobic based on that remark, the same way i don't think suarez is racist based on his remark. it does show how easily a comment can be misinterpreted without knowing the exact context it was used it. this is what we have been saying all along, context is everything.
unless additional evidence is released that makes me change my mind, suarez has done nothing wrong and will support him and the club in take the case to the highest court possible if neccessary.

By the way I only made the quote in the first place because someone else ironically suggested that such and such a thing would be the equivalent of making jokes in/about Uruguay (which it isn't anyway, it's a joke about spelling).

Seems that the good people of Liverpool on here aren't game for it How about you just do it for a day?
