There is a thought that says, you must sell those players that want to leave or they will de-stabalise the team spirit etc.
Two names dispell this myth: Modric, Ronaldo. Ronlado stayed and won the double with Utd (i think) while Modric is on record as saying he wanted to leave but Spurs MADE him stay; he's looked pretty good to me so far and seemed happy enough knocking in that goal Vs us at the lane.
So, where would Liverpool be if Alonso and Torres were MADE to stay. Carroll probably wouldnt have been bought and Suarez with Torres up front supported by Alonso and Gerrard, bit like this:
-------------------Reina----------------
Johnson--Skrtel--Agger--Enrique
-----------Lucas------Alonso---------
-----Suarez---Gerrard----Maxi------
------------------Torres------------------
What could of been eh? I know, no good dwelling but i was just thinking thats all.....if only we MADE em stay!!!
Do you OR dont you sell unhappy players?

Depends on the quality of the player and the situation. I don't think Ronaldo or Modric disliked Man Utd or Tottenham greatly, I just think they really wanted to be somewhere else instead of there.

I agree the bottom line is we let Torres go but stopped Reina leaving. That is the price we paid for letting Hicks and Gillette destabilise the club. Poor decisions were made.

Difference is that Torres wasnt performing and wanted to leave so there would be no point in keeping him.

What if you make them stay and their form drops away? They become worthless drains on recourses.
Best to sell them and buy players who want to be there.

Get rid of them because they think they're better than Liverpool Football Club. Kick them out with a footprint on the ass.
