Under dogs

Am I the only one who likes it when we go into games as underdogs? I just think we perform better in these, the only games i can think of when we haven't performed well over the past few seasons when we where underdogs where Tottenham this season and at City last season. As a club we have a tendancy to perform in the bigger games and usual give the top 5 clubs a good game.

So going into tonights game with most expecting us to get a thrashing will this play into our hands? Also people forgot city where playing only 48 hours ago and although City have a big enough squad that only a few will be playing tonight who played against Sunderland it will still have mentally drain their whole team especially when they've just come of the back of a defeat against an average team and only in the last minute. They'll have a low morale.

Tonight I'm going for a 2-2 draw with Gerrard and Carroll getting one each, unfortunately with Lucas being out i don't think we'll be able to cope with their attack, so we'll concede 2 early goals but then we'll wake up come out the traps and show City what we're made of. What do my fellow reds think?

YNWA!

Silva, Aguero and Ballotelli we're all rested in the game. Hopefully their defence still have slow legs.
Our defence has conceded the least this season and if we can keep the goals to a maximum of 1, then we have all the chance in the world

I don't think low morale will come into it to be honest. I think City will be 'smarting' after the Sunderland result and will be looking to make sure they don't lose two in a row.
My heart says a win for us, but my brain says maybe a draw or we will lose.
Funny thing about this game: We could either win it, or I have a bad feeling we could also get hammered. It's so hard to call.

Totally agree with op, pressures on them, especially after picking one point from six, if we work hard keep it tight, we'll get chances on the break, Bellamy against his old club two games running.

Given the results of the teams around us, namely Chelsea and Arsenal, if we lose this game we will still only be 3 points off fourth, with home games against Chelsea and Arsenal to play.

If we do lose, I hope the knee-jerkers see sense and don't overreact. Win, lose or draw its all to play for.

I said the same thing yesterday Paisleys Patterned Dreams.

Tonight is effectively a free game for us. Losing in arguably our hardest game of the season will have little bearing on our chances of 4th.

None of us want to lose, but if we do, it's not the end of the world.

Hopefully that fact will mean we play relaxed and produce our best stuff, with all the pressure on City.
