How do you feel about our transfers?

I thought as we are at the beginning of the January transfer window, I would invite my fellow reds to give their views on the story so far since Kenny took the reigns again.

Are you confident we are going in the right direction or are we headed further into the doldrums?

If you have to guess now where do you predict we will finish this year?

Do you feel we are going to end up with Darren Bent this transfer window for another hefty fee and will that be enough to take us into the top four?

Lastly who would you pick as a realistic choice to bring in a the transfer window?

Wums allowed but make it original please.

Enrique and Suarez have both been excellent.

Adam looks like a good squad player and Henderson I believe has the attributes to be a top notch box to box midfielder in the future.

Downing has disappointed. His final ball and penchant for taking an extra touch when it isn't required has been frustrating.

Carroll is still a lad, but needs to improve tenfold to prove he has the ability and desire to play for a club like Liverpool.

The problem we have at the present time is without CL football we can't attract the biggest names. I'm confident that FSG will spend more because they bought the club for a knock down price and once you factor in the reported wage reductions and net spend, they really haven't spent that much.

Quality not quantity is what we need. But we have to be realistic about the players we can currently attract.

Being linked with Welliton now, price tag of £7 million.I know he's a very pacey striker which would be useful, not sure about anthing alse though tbh

I think we have reached a similar point that we did under Rafa, only this time the competition is much tougher.

The top 6 is stronger than it has ever been. When Rafa was manager, 5th and 6th was usually Everton and Villa, now with all due respect to those clubs, at the time they were nowhere near as strong in depth and financially as the top 6 are now.

Rafa had a relatively easy job of finishing in the top 4, but to take that final step to challenging for the title we needed top class wide players. We were linked with all and sundry but they always ended up going somewhere else, for whatever reason. We could probably attract the players but we didn't have the funds.

Now, we probably do have the funds, but because it is much harder to finish in the top 4, until we get there we probably won't be able to attract the players.

Kenny, like any other manager in the world, has made some good signings and some bad ones. Enrique is fantastic, the best left back we have had for god knows how long, probably since the 80's. Adam I think has done pretty well, better than many expected, the only let down has been his much vaunted set pieces.

Henderson is only 20, and was very much brought for the future. You can tell he is only that age in his performances, but you can also see why we bought him. He can pass, he has a great engine and he is technically sound. He has improving to do, but there is no reason why he won't do it, he seems to have a good head on his shoulders.

Suarez has been a great signing, despite all the hoo-ha and lack of finishing. I actually think the rest will do him the world of good in that regard, he didn't get a proper rest in the summer and plays almost every game for us. A mid season break is exactly what he needs to rediscover the potency that saw him score 49 goals in a season not long ago.

Downing & Carroll have been the two big disappointments. Downing started well but the lack of confidence he often shows for England has now taken over. He was bought, like Enrique, as the finished article, someone who should slot straight in and perform, but he hasn't done enough.

Carroll's start is not entirely his own fault, he was disrupted in the beginning because of injury which was a disaster for him because he lost all the momentum he had from his Newcastle form. Since then he has been fighting for both form and fitness at a new club with the spotlight on him, alot of pressure on a young player and I think you can see that in the sitters he has missed this season.

He could turn his Liverpool career around, but it is going to be very difficult for him to do so and he desperately needs to take advantage of Suarez absence and score some goals. If he does not, in all likelihood we will sign another striker in January and when Suarez returns he could find himself way down the pecking order and a £35m sub.

Bellamy has been what I expected him to be, a very good performer who gets booked for breathing. But his Ledley King-esque inability to play two games in a row is frustrating for everyone, because he is obviously one of our most dangerous attackers but we can't play him regularly.

We need to sign at three attacking players in the next two windows, a striker and two versatile wide players, and they need to be top quality. Whether that is possible or not remains to be seen.

If its not possible, then we are staring at 5th/6th for the foreseeable future, effectively becoming the Everton/Villa of Rafa's era.

I think the slating of Downing has been very harsh. Yes he did have a few bad games but it has not got to the stage where he has a good game and still gets slated.

Adam has had good games and bad games but like everybody I am amazed how poor his set-pieces have been.

Enrique has been class and very consistant.

Henderson has improved with every game and I can tell he will be a great player from us, if he keeps improving at this rate.

Carroll unfortunately hasn't worked out so far, for many reasons. However i have complete faith that once he gets a couple of goals and his confidence back, he'll turn it around and prove an important player for us.

Bellamy has did exactly what we bought him for. Been a good impact player off the bench and the games he has been able to start has performed well.

Suarez stopped the devastation most of us felt when Torres decided to leave and has been a fantastic player to watch. I felt he has been tired lately and it has shown in his poor finishing. As above, i expect him to come back fitter and fresher and firing on all cylinders.

Oh and let's not forget Coates who unfortunately hasn't had many chances due to our defence performing so well. He has looked ok when he's played but I see a massive future for him in our defence.

I'm confident that Downing can turn his form around this season. However, I'm more dubious about AC and how he fits into the teams pattern of play. His positioning is a big concern for me. The plus side is that he will get the time to do so with Liverpool.

I'm really hoping we don't go for Bent, imo we can do so much better than him(we bought Suarez ffs), he's found his level at Aston Villa and is not good enough to play for a team like Liverpool. Our owners should seriously consider signing a striker for big money this January, who's name isn't Bent. Players like Soldado, Podolski, Llorente etc are definitely achievable targets and we should be doing everything in our power to sign these players, before even considering going for the likes of Bent.

I agree with this.

I agree with the last two comments from Toor and Culty, but we seem to be looking at players who are so unlike what we used to sign. Bent has been proved to be a mercenary, although I still think he would get a fair share of goals. Maybe he's a means to an end.
