Steve Claridge

Did anyone listen to the 5 live prematch build up last night. I was listening on the way back from work, and Steve Claridge was talking about Simon Grayson.

He said that having spoken to him personally, SG is frustated that our wage structure means we can not bring in the next level of quality player we need to push for promotion. Claridge also suggested that our wage structure is a 1/4 of that of the "so called big" teams in this division. The pundits all agreed that Leeds overachieved last season and as a result SG is paying the price for that this season with discontent from a section of the support and pressure from the chairman.

All the pundits then went on to discuss how Leeds are a huge team, with massive support and how we must generate a large amount of money from gates, tv money, recent cup runs, and player sales..... but how none of that appears to be invested back into the team.

I must say that I find Claridge a little clueless at times, however, it was refreshing and nice to hear someone talk sense and agree with a lot of what us fans (well some of us ) think!

Thoughts?

I agree. I thought Claridge could have landed him in it.

If it is true, then it confirms what a lot of us think..... that SG has done extremely well to get us to where we are now, with one arm tied behind his back.

How do you knwo he isnt taking it up with Bates?
Why are so many articles twisted away from the point they are making on this site.

What grayson has achieved with the amount of money he has actually spent is very impressive. Not many managers could have done it. And I know there are managers out there better than him. He isn't perfect at all. But theres also a lot of clubs out there that are better options than leeds united. Grayson is doing a good job, and that seems to be the opinion of people who probably know a lot more about his job than us fans!

Leeds60 I'm starting to believe Bates employed SG to be his runt of the litter dog that he can kick anytime he wants...

I don,t think he is clueless Thompson Lees White Clayton are all his finds he has brought them on so he isn,t that clueless . Furthermore he spent £67k in the summer to get a team to fight for promotion who else could have done this. Clueless he,s not and BATES knows thisthats why he didn,t get sack over the AOB affair

Bates has most likely made it abundantly clear in private that Grayson can either work with the tight budget or get the sack..

Some of you might say SG should resign and and publicise his concerns about the current regime to the media, but we all know that Bates is the king of spin and somehow he will make Grayson look like the villian and half our fans are so gullible they will believe Bates' side of the story!

An a very accurate but of info on the not606 board, which came from an Elland Road physio back in August, stated that Grayson was already fuming with Bates over the wage structure last summer...

Just because he doesn't go on the record to the media with his issues, doesn't mean everything is hunky-dorry, we all know Bates and SG do everything behind closed doors.

We all know Bates is holding the club back with his narrow minded way of looking at things. All the guys on that show to a man, agreed we needed investment, and were almost laughing at the amount of money spent on players we had on the park.

They all believed with a bit more investment we could go places, but hey, we will still have people on here defending Bates. "Better the devil you know", "be careful what you wish for". Well I wouldn't wish Bates on my worst enemy!!
