Not interested in Carling Cup.........

........after an heroic 2nd half effort on Sunday there are bound to still be some tired legs.
Aguero had a massive game and shouldn't be anywhere near a football pitch tomorrow.
If any player has got even the slightest twinge they should not be risked. The priority games are Wigan away and Spurs at home.

I'll be disappointed with Bobby if we get an injury to a key player in these games.

No, throw some kids in and forget this competition.

Maybe wiekens was misinterpreted. I cannot speak for him. However I would also like to say that I would like to focus our priority on the league. Boris, you are right, we *should* be able to take on Wigan with our squad but I have one eye on Spurs. If they win tonight against Everton then they are level with United. If we lose to Spurs then we will have 3 teams level on points. I don't think my nerves can take that. We need to beat Spurs to keep ahead.
Loz, you are right, if there is a chance to win something we should go for it. I'm not saying don't go for it. Our resilience on Sunday has shown me that we will not go down without a fight.

...we will possibly have 3 teams level on points...*
^ this is what I had meant to say.

Let's be positive here, we are only likely to be missing 3 players over the next 4 weeks.

Kolo - Good player but we were without him for 6 months and didn't suffer.

Yaya - Great player but Milner will be an able deputy. What he lacks in physical height he makes up fpr in speed and passing ability.

VK - An impossible act to follow but a great chance to see what Savic is made off as I assume he was bought as an eventual replacement for either Kolo or Lezzer.

Assuming that Dzeko and Balo will be back for most or all of the games then I don't think we have too much to worry about if we play our normal game.

Whilst I agree that the League is our priority and that I wouldn't want to see anything doen tonight to jeopardise that, it would be silly to come this far and not go for it. Plus, I missed the FA Cup final as I was halfway up a mountain, and so will relish the chance to see City in a cup final at Wembley.

One good think about the League Cup is that it will absorb two of Kompany's four-game suspension. If he had to miss four league games, that would be pretty horrendous for us.

As for Europa League, it barely crosses my mind. Not bothered about it at all, and would be more than happy if Macini sacked it off. Shame, because it could be a decent competition, but in it's current format it just comes across as a blatant poor-man's Champions League (only with more games). League Cup is probably a better cup to win.

Wiekens,

If we're going to stand a chance of becoming a force in football, we need to learn to ride out these storms. Okay, we don't need two tough fixtures against Liverpool right now, but this is where we are and we've got them whether we want them or not. So, what do you think we should do?

I'll tell you what we shouldn't do. We should not, under any circumstances, roll over and let Liverpool win. If we're serious about winning, we should NEVER, EVER roll over and quit. It would be a complete insult to the club, the players and the fans.

Our next match after this is 5 days away to Wigan. I know their place isn't a happy hunting ground for us, but we should be able to beat them without too much effort. And then we have six days before we play Spurs. These games are hardly coming thick and fast and we have time to rest players.

I know the Carling Cup isn't considered the cream of domestic trophies, but it's better than winning nothing. And as has been mentioned before, we've still got plenty of time to challenge for the league title.

Have a little faith, stop worrying. What will be, will be.

There are only 3 domestic trophies available and I see a lot of the so called bigger teams taking it seriously.

We have 2 very hard games and another great day at Wembley awaits if we can do well.

There is plenty of time before the Wigan game so resting anyone shouldn't come into it. I am expecting to be watching our strongest available team tonight and will be most displeased not to do so.

Fortunately I think Mancini will take tonight seriously, else he wouldn't have played the likes of Hart, Richards, Kompany, Barry, Silva, Yaya, Aguero, Balotelli, against Arsenal in the last round.
