What really impresses me is the work we do off the ball, the closing down and the husseling our players (especially the midfielders) are doing, showing some real grit. Especially in contrast to the ipswich and portsmouth games where we just let them pass the ball around at will. I thought tuesday night was a great performance against a poor forest side who made us look fantastic on and off the ball, maybe its a sign of things to come. We can live in hope. Really happy to see beckford look sharp tonight. Really enjoyable to watch the whole team, long may it continue

We were fantastic - Southampton were below par but that's because we hustled and harried them into mistakes. Mills and particularly St Ledger were really solid at the back and it's nice not to have to talk about Kasper for once! He made his obligatory sensational save but other than that had very little to do and that's testament to a fantastic defensive performance.
The midfield owned the pitch - Danns is really starting to show why Sven was so keen to bring him in he just never stops running and it was great to see Wellens back to his old self. Drinkwater looks a very accomplished player and showed a few nice touches - he was thrown in at the deep end out of position and acquitted himself well.
The front two were brilliant and that could be one heck of a partnership that's building up there. I don't know what's come over Beckford recently but he's a completely different player and their defence were visibly terrified of him all night. He worked hard, linked up really well and was unfortunate not to get the goal his performance deserved. As for Nugent he was simply brilliant as he has been since the day we signed him - what a fantastic goal to cap a wonderful display. Definitely deserved MOTM.
Most importantly though we played and pressed Soton as a team. Who ever saw something like that coming just a week ago? It's a bloody strange game that we follow.

TIM summed it nicely for me...
SSL proved that he deserved his place on the pitch and has definately provided competition for the CB place. Drinkwater got really stuck in - tackling was excellent, I lost how many times he won the ball. Delfouneso also looked promising and it was refreshing to see Beckford perform as we all originally expected.
Every player on the pitch in blue bossed this game completely - unchanged starting 11 next game for me.

With the next game being Swindon, I would like to see him start Drinkwater and Delfouneso to see how they do for a whole game.
