Clear the Air Talks

Evening fellow United fans!

My last article wasn't exactly well received so I feel the need to salvage a bit of reputation by sticking strictly to Footballing issues.

I don't think any transfer talk is necessary as we look unlikely to make a signing and it seems Fergie has to repeat himself at least twice a window with his 'no value in the market' 'happy with what I've got' comments.

What I'd like to discuss, after careful consideration is this:

Was it Ando? Was it Cleverly? Was it both? Or was it just a very good, confident start on the back of a fantastic previous season and pre-season tour?

I am, of course, speaking of our fantastic start to the 2011/12 campaign.

We played some magnificent stuff, I was enough of a die-hard to stay up and watch the pre-season games and it genuinely looked like the lads were treating the competitive games as such.

They were enjoying themselves. Being creative, fluid and confident while retaining the professionalism and structure of the team. It was an absolute joy to watch and you can barely blame a lot of our fans' views that a special year was beckoning.

Of course, Football proved once again to be a cruel and unpredictable mistress with a lapse in form and injuries.

But what caused these seemingly wonderful, cohesive performances to slip?

Our central midfield problems seemed all but disappeared as Fergie's reluctance to spend appeared justified. Anderson and Cleverly were dominating games, creating chance after chance and playing a truly gorgeous brand of football.

Since Cleverly's unfortunate injury, however, Ando couldn't quite find that form no matter who partnered him. Was he a catalyst to the team? Was it simply a brilliant partnership between two players who understood each other's game and enjoyed the other's companionship?

Ando, for me, is frustrating. We've seen him play brilliantly but far too rarely. I believe he is one of those players who doesn't adapt well, or more specifically, can only play with a certain type of player.

With Hargo in his first season, he looked awesome! Hargo got injured, Anderson became a WUM's dream.

Cleverly has played just a handful of competitive games yet we seem to miss him so dearly. Is he actually that good? I understand peoples' doubts, he's hardly fully proven. But his technical ability as well as positioning and decision making looked so revised. This is what makes me think he genuinely will become a great player.

Technical ability is often undervalued in the EPL (less so today) which is why players like Paul Scholes didn't perhaps receive the praise he deserved. Having said that, Alonso, Fabregas and Silva's ability has been/is being recognised accordingly.

So, what's your opinion on the matter? Cleverly, the creator? Ando, the unpredictable? Or Manchester United, the wonderful at making things difficult when they really shouldn't be all that but coercing you to love them more at every turn?

Thanks.

Scholes'

Someone asked me! Honestly, what is your problem!?

Someone asked me about something I happened to be interested in! Get over it, no one's coercing you to read it!

Hizmo,

You genuinely are a fool.

I go to an inner city FE college, it's grade profiles are, well they're not great, around 7% lower than the National average.

I'm not going to lie, I'm a very privileged young man but I can tell you that it is no where near the means your use of language suggests. I mean privileged in the way of having a nice TV in my room, digital television, luxuries that unfortunately some people can't afford.
As I've said, someone asked me about my businesses, I simply gave an answer. I didn't mention my grades.

As for mainstream, I target two niche markets but thanks for asking!

I've already explained about article structure...depressive!? Where!? Business talk is depressing is it!?

As for 'getting a life' I'm doing just fine, mate. Hence I don't use Ja to 'get away from depression' like yourself.

Ultimately, my 'opinions on a football' as you so brilliantly wrote; this is a football forum, the article is about football, it isn't my fault if people ask me other questions. It's polite to oblige and answer them.

I have goals in Life, GET OVER IT.

If you had a passion about something I was interested in, say Paintings, I wouldn't begrudge you the opportunity to discuss it on here with users you've come to know and get on with. Especially when they've asked you about it!

Clouded by, I don't know, jealousy? An irrational hatred of business and economics? Academia? User friendly structure? Whatever it is, I suggest you take your ridiculous arguments elsewhere and bother someone else.

And correct your own grammatical errors while you're at it! Tool.

That should read 'I wasn't interested in'.

Why are you guys laying into this guy? He's not written a bad article, debate the points raised or do not comment. It's not exaclty rocket science.

Back to the OP, I think Ando and Cleverly play well together but leave us exposed and even though we all enjoyed the football on offer SAF didn't like the fact that the back 4 wasn't protected.

Ando also plays well with Carrick but SAF made him play with Fletcher who had been struggling with illness and thsi was counterproductive.

Ando is very good on the ball and can run with the ball a lot better than the other CMs we've got. It's a shame he gets injured just about every season. He's a good player though and although he's frustrating at times I like his approach. He always looks to take the ball forward and is strong and can hold his own in the middle.

Lets hope both players regain full fitness and provide great midfield options for us in the future.

Cheers
