Can only be good news this (although not 100% confirmed). That said on current form Wellbeck is probably more of a threat.
Non-wum mancs invited to post your possible team selection here as I would be interested to know what you guys reckon. Also i have a feeling Scholes will start this one.
We need to make sure we dominate the midfied on Saturday and break up play as often as possible. Adam needs to carry through that determination he showed against City and it goes without saying that Gerard will perform on the day, of that I have no doubt.
Would like to see Shelvey AM with maxi up top (assuming bellamy will be rested) for some energy in the early stages, but I get this sinking feeling Carroll may start. I just hope Kenny doesn't go defensive, we need to be at them from minute 1.

Where are you?

Paris, Fred, you're down south, right?
We'll have the joy of listening to the France 4 commentator calling our captain Gherrard and our ground referred to as Anfield Road but better than nothing, eh?

Toulouse yeah.
I don't watch football in France; cannot stand French commentary after watching the rugby world cup. Such bias when it was France v England and it reminds me of my evil French ex girlfriend.
So I choose to go for a crap stream instead .

Given Carroll's confidence level and goal tally at the mo I don't think he should start such a big game. I hope I'm proved wrong I really do.
Agreed with recent post though more likely Kuyt will start up top on his own for this one. Let's hope he can find the net again and get another hat trick. With another assist from Nani!

Carroll has been given enough time, been paired with class players in Suarez and Bellamy and he hasn't shown the slightest bit of quality. We are a much better side with him not playing, it's a fact. If he starts sat, i expect United to at least get a draw.

I was delighted when we signed Carroll (I pay no mind to price tags) as I thought he'd be a huge goal bagger for us.
I gave him the benefit of the doubt at the back end of last season as he was coming back after a long lay off.
I gave him the benefit of the doubt at the start of this season, reasoning he needed to get his bearings and he'd come good.
I kept the faith when Gerrard came back against Newcastle and started whipping balls in to him. These two are going to strike up a great understanding and the goals will flow, I thought.
I'm afraid I was wrong on all counts. The benefit of the doubt has been well and truly used and abused.
He's a big slow useless lump, he shows no hunger for the fight, he seems incapable of getting out of second gear and his touch makes Kuyt look like Messi.
He may start, he may bang in a hat-trick but I seriously doubt it.

I think carroll should play, maybe someone should feed him a few extra strength latte's so he is jumping of the walls like an energizer bunny...
Downing and Adam looked much improved against city, I wonder what Kenny said to them?
Its a big game so I'm confident we'll turn up and get a result, if it was sunderland or wigan I'd be unsure

After Wednesday, when we beat the current league leaders, we are moving back into that time when teams would fear coming near the place. I accept that City, a great team, were seriously hampered by the absence of Ya Ya, Kompany, Balotelli, but the Reds still won. I fully agree with Taras; AC is simply never going to cut it. To come on as sub in the 90th minute says all there needs to say. Forget playing in a style to meet his needs, he is just not cutting it. Time to promote some of the juniors Mr. Dalglish, even if only for the one game. Against them. YNWA JimmyTheRed
