Mr Andrew Carroll

Quick fire questions

What were your opinions of him BEFORE he joined Lpool? Including before you guys were linked with him.

Do you think in a few years time you could be in disbelief that you ever thought he was rubbish? as in could he turn out to be an absolute legend of a player?

Is it just a case of trying to improve him abit and being well aware that he isn't very good, a squad player at best OR is there still a chance given his age, previous form etc that he could go on to be one of your greatest strikers?

IMO you can play him and Saurez in the same side but not as a partnership, Carroll needs a partner and Saurez doesn't necessarily have to play the role of striker. Huntelaar could be a good punt, no? I'd say you go for 2 different striking partnerships (not including suarez)

I genuinly thought Carroll was good at Newcastle, it wasn't his goal record, more his ability to smash goals in from varied areas. He didn't look so one-dimenional even with the whole team playing through him. Wasn't his England debut pretty decent aswell?

I told my m8 whos a newcastle fan, that andy c looks good, the season they was in the EPL but got relagated that year, i also said krul is good that year too :P and enrique :P he disagreed with krul and carroll.

I was shocked spurs offered 25m for carroll and almost died when we paid 35 mill, i rated him around 10-15m possibly more because he was young and english but no more then 20.

Yes i do believe he has what it takes to be great, i mean he has a lot of ex professionals and people who know what their on about always backing/praising him as they know what he is capable of and for a young lad too.

Hes an handful, he has it all except blistering pace but he isnt a snail or anything but not great acceleration or pace.

Hes had problems on and off the field and i dont believe he wanted to leave newcastle and i dont believe he gets the right service at Liverpool. I do believe Liverpool are being very patient with the lad and thats the right way he is here for the long run no matter how bad his record gets trust me.

The first I remember if him was when he scored against us, he was unplayable that day and I don't recall many players shooting with such power from open play.

He just started to show what he can do today but he's got alot of improvement needed to cut it at LFC.

"One swallow does not make a summer" for too long AC has failed to deliver the goods. I for one don't buy in to the "if only he got proper service" story. The bottom line is, thus far, he hasn't delivered, he hasn't stepped up to the plate. If he improves on today's game, great. Let's wait and see, and not hold our breaths in the meantime. jimmyTheRed

Carroll reminds me of a young Kevin Davies, olny not as good.

I neary fell off the couch when we signed him for £35m. I walked around in a dream the next day after the story broke, scratching my head, mumbling £35m over and over. It was flabbergasting.

In an attempt to make sense of it all I kidded myself that he could become the geordie Drogba, but when I witnessed his chronic lack of pace and mobility I realised we may have signed the new Tony Hatley instead.

I'm still hoping he may still turn into the geordie Drogba. Carroll played well today, not great, but well enough. However, my fears are yet to be allievated as regards his true worth to the club. He's a handy plan B, but for the money, a handy plan B isn't good enough for Liverpool FC.

Come on Carroll... become the geordie Drogba

I think Carroll could become the Geordie Duncan Ferguson

Sorry, you couldnt even begin to compare AC with Drogba.
AC does not fit in with our style of pass and go football. His game is the long ball ala kuyt's goal yesterday.

You are right gurdevlfc, absolutely. AC cannot be compared with Drogba. Name me one game when AC has come on the pitch and behaved like an absolute tart of the first order? (without the short tight skirt, sussies and high heels of course) JimmyTheRed
