Sorry, but today's statement is utterly pathetic and I feel really annoyed about it. Honestly - it's utterly pathetic.
We Leeds fans don't care what the Hammers expect one jot. Why shouldn't WE be the 'benchmark' team Mr Bates? After all, some say there's no such thing as a 'weak' or 'strong' division, right?!! Or do we need to spend money? But of course, also according to many on here that's not necessary!! So if I'm not mistaken, Bates and Grayson are obviously setting themselves up to 'overachieve' yet again if we fail to make the play-offs two years running. Oh but West Ham and the other's have parachute payments, some cry!! Yes - exactly the point some of us were making back in January!! Last season, ALL THREE clubs that came down had financial troubles and had to use their parachute payments to deal with those issues. That is why many of us called it a 'weak' Championship last year. There was no obvious 'benchmark team'. Unlike last year, this season is going to be a lot tougher for the teams who haven't had a recent stint in the Premiership.
It appears, so far, that Bates only intends promotion riding primarily on a Blackpool style of luck and lottery, and not on a confident and concerted push for the top two. That said, I AM prepared to have my mind changed, but I am waiting to see the promised 'activity' that Bates talks about if I am to do so. Either way, it would have been wiser to have been spending any money back in January - and I won't change on that.

SuperLeeds - would Grayson actually say it any differently.
As I said, it feels like we're just being set up for another 'overachieved' excuse when we fail to finish above all the 'strong' teams in the division.

And fresh off the heals of yesterday's statement by
SG and KB "Things are about to hot up in the transfer market!!!!" - we hear SG now saying "He's happy with
last season's squad." ??????? He's lost the back bone
of any team - Keeper - in the form of Kasper. The same Keeper who was an ever-present in the team. And he's lost the two midfielders he just had to have in the team week in week out. And he's happy??? WTF???
It's the same as last season when Bates would spout off about "Players crawling on hands and knees to play for Leeds." Quickly followed up with "But, those players are hard to find." What is it you numpties?
Flurry of activity my behind. Expect a patchwork quilt of
a team. And yes, we'll hear all of the BS about our mid table position being due to others having parachute money/too much money/silly money/extortionate wages. Forget the fact that there are two ex-England managers and a handful of ex-Premier league managers with honest-to-goodness backing we're going up against. Bates makes me want to hurl.

I have to say that I 100% agree with Real Estate on this. I am growing tired of pointless articles on our official site more concentrating on other so called 'big' clubs. Who gives a ff what they are doing and what they are about?!
It seems to me that our club just continue to litter our own site with rubbish to make it look like a lot is happening. I also agree lufc_batty in relation to SG going back on his own words less than 24 hours since he spouted them out!!! Why oh why does the hierarchy at Leeds Utd have to transmit messages to us fans in this way?
I kind of agree that we shouldn't name our targets but something more specific would suffice. If Grayson was to come out and say, "We are definitely in the market for a new centre back, left back and two midfield generals", I would be happy. Instead he is gabbing on about being happy with the team from last season one minute and the next saying get ready for an explosion of business. Is the 'explosion' going to be Bates' wallet overfilling and combusting?!!!

grayson will be sacked before the west ham game thats why he is talking about them because he wont see them play at elland rd, THE MAN HAS LOST THE PLOT I cant see him taking leeds any further than he has, good riddance asap thats what I say
