The Reason Why 606 Closed?

If you were wondering why our beloved 606 was shut down and don't believe the tripe that was churned out by the BBC bureaucrats then consider for one moment how much money has been spent by them on Glasto including armies of Beebers falling about in the mud at the licence fee payers expense.

Then read this and just imagine how much (of licence fee payers) money was spent putting this sorry lot up in New York and feeding and watering them into oblivion.

The 606 forum was not cost effective apparently. Good to see their financial prudence hasn't been forgotten, hey?

Freeloaders united = BBC, by the way Pippa may be nice looking but why all the fuss she should get a real job for once.

In all honesty, I saw pippa for the first time in the paper today.... what exactly is all the fuss about?

I'm not saying she's a munter by any stretch, but by the way people have gone on about her since the wedding I was kind of expecting someone that would make Jessica Alba look like the back end of a bus.

Considering they're meant to be making cuts they're not doing a very good job. Sure 606 might not have been making any money but it was hardly costing much either. It was hardly one of the key areas to reduce expenditure. Try the wages of some of the so called TV presenters and pundits. Tim Henman is getting paid £14,000 a day to commentate at Wimbledon for Christ's sake!

The BBC is light years ahead in terms of anyone else in terms of quality and impartiality. Sky, ITV etc simply have little qualty and are motivated purely by money and ratings. The licence fee is definitely value for money. It's only criticised by the Sun and the Mail because they have their own agenda.

That said, I simply cannot understand why 606 was closed. How much did it cost, I wonder? Surely it was cost effective.

In my opinon 606 closed due to lack of finance which along with a looser media stewardship must have pleased the media magnate who did so much to put the current government in power.Whilst on the subject i would like to say that people who think the BBC is expensive should look at the advertising premium on almost everything we buy,and that does not make commercial television cheap-that's why the advertising guys are driving Ferrari's !

thought exactly the same, whenever I've mentioned it tho I've been asked if I saw the wedding, which I didn't, apparently not watching it means I won't understand.

hoddlegoddle: People simply look at the licence fee in a blinkered and naive way. They fail to appreciate that a sizeable proportion of the goods we pay for comprises of advertising costs.

I have BBC Freesat. I get channels in HD. I'm able to watch the occasional game of football as well as regular highlights. Plus there is other sport. Oh, and I get quality, unbiased news.

As for Glasto its not about the music coverage the BBC paid for, its about the army of freeloaders "tasked" to attend it at BBC/our expense. This also relates to the Dr Who junket. Wasting money.

Also MPs have been hauked over the coals for their expenses, even FIFA have had their nefarious antics highlighted (but probably only temporarily halted). The EU must be next on the target list yet the cretins at the BBC still slop the cash about like......well.... like City
