The First ODI

Im glad Cook got a good result from todays game, he was under pressure from the off over his selection as captain, he must be thanking his lucky stars at this result after going very early on in his innings.
I hope he does well as captain, tremendous potential already in this young man.

Great ro see Bresnan back, hr's such a whole hearted cricketer and adds so much to the team.

I think Cook will prove people wrong with his selection as captain. I think in time his batting will be fine for ODIs and I think the England boys will play for him.

Ok he didnt get the runs but was unlucky to be out. I was spot on about the captaincy, its only a start but to me things look good, England played with real aggression, lets hope we can get a win in this series and start making progress.

It's impossible to judge after one game. I do hope he leads England well but let's have another look in a years time. The same goes for Broad.

Do you think the one day captaincy will help Cook when his time comes to be test captain. Not necessarily with tactics but an aggressive attitude to his captaincy? Yesterday was impressive with the all round aggression of the side.

Yes possibly.
That's the thing. The only reason he is captain is because they see him as Strauss' successor, so therefore experience in the ODI format will/may help.
This IMO is not the best reason to make someone skipper.

It was a good all round performance and Cook certainly got great support from his players, especially the bowlers.
