Stevenage 2 - 2 Huddersfield Town

The Boro v The Terriers
Tuesday 28th February 2012
19:45
Broadhall Way

In the latest round of the title bout we have a rematch between, in the blue corner, Lee Clark and, in the red corner, Graham Westley's sidekick, Dino Maamria...

BUT hold on a minute, let's rewind ...

... they've both gone!

Who'd have thought that, by the time we came to play again, Graham Westley would have been head-hunted by PNE, taking his assistant, Dino Maamria, with him or that Lee Clark would be sacked?

Shame as it could have been like David Haye v Chisora all over again.

The Terriers and the Boro have only met once and that was in this League and earlier this season. We won 2-1 at the Galpharm. Goals from Roberts and Novak.

Stevenage are still living the dream. They won back to back promotions to gain entry to the League last season and into League One this season.
But the fairy tale doesn't end there as they currently lie 7th in the table and are still in the FA Cup with a replay at White Hart Lane to come.

However, they have lost their previous two League games, the latest being a 2-0 defeat at Charlton on Saturday. Whereas we won on Saturday with a 2-0 victory over Exeter at home.

How To Get There And Where To Park

Leave the A1 (M) at Junction 7 and take the A602 towards Stevenage. Go straight across the first roundabout and as you approach the next roundabout you can see the floodlights of the ground over on the right. However, if you go straight across the roundabout then you will see the entrance on the left to the large official car park which is free.
The car park though has only one entrance/exit, so this can lead to bit of a bottleneck after the game has finished.

By Train

The nearest station to the ground is Stevenage which is about one mile away from the ground. Leave the station booking hall and turn left towards the town. Take the stairs on the right before the bridge over the dual carriage way and head along the A602, Lytton Way. At the roundabout which has the police station on the right, take the second exit into Six Hills Way. At the next roundabout take the third exit (south) continuing along the A602, Monkswood Way, passing a large Asda store on your right.
After about 3/4 mile (McDonalds/Burger King etc will be on your right) you will arrive at a roundabout and the ground will be opposite you on the other side of the A602.

You can also get the Arriva No.5 Bus to the ground, from Stop E at the nearby bus station.
As the ground is not easily spotted in the distance, ask the driver to drop you off on Monkswood Way, opposite the entrance to the retail park.

Quotes

Simon Grayson: "Without being disrespectful to League 1, we have spent the last few years in the Championship and concentrated solely on that Division. However, it is all about reacting quickly now and getting used to this League and the players within it."

About Stevenage: "I think they have changed slightly since the new management team came in; I think their ethics as a hard-working team have stayed with them. They try to pass the ball more than they did under Graham Westley, but they were very successful under him. Ian (Miller) and Glynn (Snodin) went to watch them last week against Notts County to get an idea of how they are likely to play."

"It is a tremendous honour for Jordan to receive another international call-up and it does give someone else an opportunity here. I have got Kallum Higginbotham who wasn't involved on the weekend, Lee Novak who came off the bench and Danny Cadamarteri who can also play up there."

"We don't have any injuries from the weekend."

6 points is nothing with 14 games to play...
there are 42 points to play for...

Utd crept over the line against a bottom 4 team with ten men...hardly stunning stuff is it ?

After Oldham on saturday they have 3 away games in a row...let's see where we are in 3 weeks time..

portents of doom....

...and next season...Crawley Town, Swindon Town, Portsmouth, Coventry City...Stevenage, Wendies/MKDons...Preston still with us...doesn't get any easier...

perhaps we should just be content where we are and forget aspiriations of higher level football..it's killing us all this disappointment, expectations not met...how much can we all take...feel a bit like a L**** fan must feel, and that's really bad.

Maybe not Portsmouth!

From the BBC Sport website today...

Portsmouth administrator Trevor Birch admitted that he is at a loss as to how Portsmouth have got themselves into such a dire situation.

"The club is in a default position. It is left with a foot-print around the stadium that they don't own, they don't own the training ground and they don't own the academy. It leaves you asking 'where has it all gone?', and I can't answer that question."

Poor Pompey fans, I have a soft spot for them due to our meetings in the late 70s - mid 80s, They always brought good numbers and were loud which made the atmosphere a good one at Old Leeds Rd.
