alan smith
according to reports "newcastle are willing to put £30,000 a week towards his elland road wage, with leeds stumping up a further £15,000 to coax smith back to his hometown team"
it then goes on to say "newcastle's proposal means smith would be dropping only £15,000 a week to finish his career where it all began - and he is thinking over his future while on holiday in america"
robert snodgrass
according to reports "leeds want at least £8million for robert snodgrass after rejecting 3 bids from norwich. the scottish forward, 23, said "you want to play at the highest level"
i hope both of these statements are what the title suggest, and is purely paper talk.
however, the snodgrass report was of particular concern. by saying "we want at least £8million for him", this lets people know we are prepared to sell if the price is right. why not just say "we don't want to sell, he's not for sale"?
i'd be interested to see what he said before and after "i want to play at the highest level". this is probably taken out of context, but it will still give those interested hope in pursuing him.
i don't want smith back at elland road. purely as i think he isn't good enough anymore. but if he comes i'll cheer him, and if he proves me wrong whilst doing so, then all the better.

"All I am asked for was clarification, now given. I am not disputing it may have been said, I am not doubting the integrity of Eddies friend or you in reporting it."
But you were when you asked if I was trying to stir things.
I'm happy to share what I hear/know but you seem to doubt anything you hear.

Because of your comments on a different post and because of your continual sniping at our Chairman I have difficulty with your motivation.
That's all.
That doesn't mean I think you are a liar.

I think the bottom line is lads, that we are all frustrated by the lack of any visible intent by this regime to take the club forwards. I'm not saying it isn't happening or going to happen but the recent record of inertia does not bode well. I have had to restrain myself from responding in a negative way to some of the overly positive posts on here, where its my belief the poster is living in cloud cuckoo land. But we are all entitled to an opinion and falling out and sniping with each other makes for contantly unpleasant reading. After all the genuine fans on here all want the same thing, namely a successful Leeds United to follow! MOT regardless!

Aycliffe was once part of a vast forest of oak trees bearing the name Auckland or Oakland . Throughout this area there were many clearings and small settlements, one of them being Aclea or Acle - Saxon meaning ‘clearing in the oak trees’ (cliff - Saxon meaning ‘a rock or headland&rsquo. Over the centuries the early forest tribes, the Romans, Saxons, Danes and Normans cut the trees down for use as fuel, bridge/road building, repairs and later for ship-building.
That does sound like cuckoo land but not cloud cuckoo land Eddie.. I'll grant you that, especially with all them trees!!
MOT! Is that the right Aycliffe though?

You've got me now Eric! That one went way over my head-higher than the tops of those trees in fact.
However, what I would like to say, from the interaction on here, Jonty is a good lad and a genuine Leeds fan of long standing, that travels many miles and spends much of his hard-earned to follow our club and I obviously don't know the history, but there does seem to be a bit of animosity there and surely we have enough on, fighting off every other shirt front, on here and elsewhere that likes to have a snipe at us!

Eddie (The Last Waltz) Gray
I would not be so rude as to disagree with your comments, I am sure he is probably what you say he is. All I say is this, he's one of the most negative dreary drab and awful posters on here and needs to cheer up a bit! All the time he depresses me I'll have a dig!
He calls it 'realism'
Well it's because of 'realism' that I'll not watch half the drivel on telly!
I just hope you sit next to him at a match, he can tell you every 12 minutes what he thinks of Ken Bates (who he does not think has done anything positive for our club) you'll be like the fellow passengers of that bloke on Airplane after 15 minutes!!

I am one of life's eternal optimists and admit having grown up watching Don Revies great side that I took it all for granted. There were days in the 80s when I never thought we' d ever challenge at the top again and along came the Wilko revolution. I just get frustrated that with the fanbase we have, the momentum this club can generate is not being harnessed ATM and unfortunately forums like this one are a prime form of expressing that disappointment. As I said on an earlier post I have stopped participating in some of the threads because I am sick of reading my own negative comments. You must admit that a bit of good news from the club would be welcome though, aside from reading about they are taking on more retail staff and the like. MOT!
