Could it happen?

Having looked at our remaining fixtures I think that we need to pinpoint the home games against Sunderland, Norwich and Wigan at least 7 attainable points. 32 points probably wouldn't keep us up but hopefully we'll be able to pick up a few other bonus points here and there against the likes of Bolton, Swansea, West Brom and Liverpool.

I can't see QPR or Wolves picking up more points than us at the moment which just leaves Wigan and Bolton. Anyone else starting to feel just a tiny bit more confident that we might just scrape out of this mess?

It is very pleasing to be out of the bottom three, but we still need to reign ourselves in a little for now as our home form remains dire and we struggle to keep clean sheets.

Encouraging however to see just how bad Wolves are at this time. You have to think they will go down after that showing. Wigan looked upbeat and positive away at Norwich however and could have won the game with better finishing. Bolton won, whilst QPR lost (obviously).

All in all great weekend for us, but let us not carried away as it can all change round evry quickly.

Ok so we currently have 25 points. We have 10 games left.

Sunderland (h)
Sunderland are reborn under MO’N but I think we could get at least a point in this one. 1 point

Bolton (a)
This game could go either way. Both defences leak goals. I will say another point. 1 point

Man United (h)
No chance. United going for the title. Result at Old Trafford earlier in the season was fluke. Won’t happen again. 0 points

West Brom (a)
Tough place to go. I would be happy with a point. 1 point

Liverpool (h)
Liverpool have been poor lately. We could win this one. I’m going for a win. 3 points

Swansea (a)
Swansea away is tough. Just ask City, Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal, etc…..0 points

Norwich (h)
Has to be a home win. No excuses. Very poor against Wigan. 3 points

Spurs (a)
High flying spurs. Hopefully Harry will have accepted the England job and the team will be in free-fall. Unlikely maybe! ….0 points

Wigan (h)
Wigan should be relegated by then. Again, home win, no excuses. 3 points

Chelsea (a)
This depends if Chelsea are still going for the CL places on final day of the season. I hope it doesn’t come down to us needing to get something at the Bridge! 0 points.

Total points: 37 points.

Will this be enough to stay up?

37 will be enough to stay up.

The amount of clubs on less than 25 points makes me think that 35 points will be enough to stay up.

37 would surely be enough points, the question is whether we can get those 37, poor as Liverpool are at the moment I still doubt we'd beat them.

Rob

If you have time, you could try this out. Would only take five or ten minutes:

The week end was certainly a good one for Rovers. But we all know that football has a nasty habit of raising your hopes before dashing them!

The next round of league matches has;
Wigan v West Brom - Sat
Wolves v Man Utd - Sun
Villa v Bolton - Tues
Rovers v Sunderland - Tues
QPR v Liverpool - Wed

Not many easy points there. But first, Bolton have a trip to Spurs in the Cup, while Sunderland go to Everton. Two more difficult ties - and long journeys for Bolton and Sunderland. I wonder what they will choose as their priorities.

I definitely think Sunderland fancy their chances in the cup. Hopefully they will put everything into the Everton game and be knackered by the time they face us

Have a look at the Bolton, QPR and Wolves boards. Shows the effect of the "6 pointers" this weekend. Us and Bolton are buzzing whilst the majority of QPR and Wolves fans believe it's all over for them now. I imagine that if we had lost to Wolves then we would be completely down in the dumps now as well.

Before the Bolton/QPR game I was hoping for a draw but since seeing both teams remaining fixtures perhaps Bolton winning was actually a better result for us?

I mean Bolton only have to play 3 of the current top half whilst QPR have the unenviable task of having to play 7 of the current top 8 in their run in. QPR also have no more "6 pointers" whereas Bolton have to play both us and Wolves.

37 points will be enough i think 34 points will be enough but that will be biting nails time if that's what points we get
