David Hillier never had to put up with such malevolence.

Isn't Songdorf a character from Star Trek?

That's because I'm not his Dad.

Why don't you write a song for him? you could call it your song song.

I can't just write a song. I'm not Falco.

I really like Alex Song, but as stated on more than a few occasions, just not as much as some Arsenal folk do.

That's cool. We all have our favourites.

Since signing up for the old 606 I've felt obliged to stand up for Tomas Rosicky as being a player that we need to retain in the squad.

Okay, so he's let me down a bit of late mind you, but even so...

I'm already bracing myself for a barrage of derision next season.

Or as I've recently dubbed it, "The Ozyakup Defence".

What I like about him is that ball over to top which works very often, defensively he needs to improve, if he doesn't then I would drop him for coquelin.

This is exactly my point. Why is Coquelin suddenly a better option than Song? Yes he's looked pretty good in the 4 games he's played or whatever but what on earth makes people think he'd be better than Song?

Defensively our problems this year have been because we haven't had a solid unit who understand each other and we lost all our full backs at once. But for some reason Song seems to get all the blame?

Song has quite a few brain farts a game which lead to him thinking he has an hour on the ball or make him hit a two yard pass to the opposition which riles people a bit but the man has got a bit of everything and we're still to see the best of him.

I've rated him ever since his loan spell at Charlton years back and he's come on absolute miles in that time. Did anyone honestly see him hitting perfect lofted through passes for our attackers on a regular basis a while back?

The guy has obviously worked hard to improve his game and I'd like to see what the end result is at the Arsenal and not somewhere else.

Unfortunately, Francis may have Coquedorf back to France this time next year, if he's not given a run in the first XI.

There's no denying this. But I do think people tend to notice it more with Song because we're constantly told Arsenal are crap defensively so all our mistakes are highlighted.

There's not a midfielder in the world who doesn't lose the ball in the middle of the park or play the wrong ball. Maybe Song does it a little more than most, maybe he doesn't but I don't think he does it so much that it's costing us games to be honest.

The whole team has a tendency to fall into the comfort zone quite often where the pace drops and the concentration levels waver. That's when simple passes go straight to the opposition and Song isn't the only one to be guilty of that. Even our keeper is prone to it. (stop it Ches!!!)

Yeah this is something that needs to be worked on. But to be fair it's been a bit of a feature of Arsene Wenger's teams. Even back when we were winning stuff we'd lose games because players would switch off or not kill the game off when they were on top.

Thank you for this. Song has been outstanding all season and deserves our praise. He does have a tendency to give the ball away but everyone makes mistakes and some of his assists this year have more than made up for a few stray passes.

If you want to take your foot off the gas after working incredibly hard and opening up a seven goal lead then that's fine, if we're one up and there's forty minutes left in the game then that's a bit more of an issue.

Basically what I'm saying is that I blame Park for this and he must be sacrificed to the Kraken.

I can't fault this comment in any way, shape or form.

Reading your article I have to say that I agree with most what you say.

I love Song for his comittment and ability too and defend him recently against some fans here when Song didnt play well.

Is he really a defensive midfielder? I don't know. I think that he really is more worth in a creative offensive role for us. When he is lying deep he makes some mistakes when he lost his focus sometimes. So I would prefer to buy e.g. Vertonghen from Ajax to have a backup for him. You might say we have Coquelin. Its true and he will get into our first team. I am absolute sure about that. But Coq isnt proven yet and had some injuries recently. So with a buy of Vertonghen we buy some depth for our beloved club.

I'm all for buying quality players if they improve our team, I've not seen much of Vertonghen but he sounds like he could be useful.

And if someone came in and was better than Song then fair enough, but it's not the area of the team I think we need to focus on to be honest.
