"the table doesn't lie" is one saying that i do agree with.

If United go on to win the league this season it will be because we have been the better team. Not the better team for short periods, but the better team for the duration of a 38 game season. I will stand by this if City manage to win the league.

Vieira seems to agree with your friend that while we might 'technically' win the league, City have been the best team and are more deserving champions. I remember he made exactly the same claim about Arsenal as captain of the league runners up in 2003. I don't think he fully understands the concept.

I mean i will stand by the saying. So, if City win the league, i will accept they have been the better team

Agree with every word of that article 5 stars from me!

Might want to get yourself a username.

I often look at the Community shield as a tell tale of what the result of the season will be (I know it's not an accurate measure!). We dominated them for the majority of the game, but for a slight blip just before half time (we also had a run of difficult performances before and after Christmas) which put us behind.

Then, towards the end of the game we really attacked and overran City to spark off a dramatic finish! Looks like the season overall is heading down a similar route.

He's saying that United deserve to be top because City have been good in on and off patches, but then goes onto say that should City win the title, they will deserve it... I think.
If that is what the OP's saying then it sounds a bit contradictory.

even if we falter in just our last two games despite what you have said i the OP about how better United have been than City consistently over the other 36 games?

Couln't agree more OP

Basially City are running out of steam at the part of the season where United go from strength to strength

A PL season is like a marathon. Simply no point in using up most of your energy in the first half of it

Ypu still have to credit City though. Without them this season, we would be sitting 18 points clear in early April

5 stars OP

Well if we're top after 36 games it's because we've been consistently the best over 36 games. If City are top after 38 games it's because they've been consistently better for 38 games. Basically, we've been the better team so far, but the season isn't over

This is the bit I don't agree with:

"After the City game there was a run of 5 games where we only managed to score 1 goal, a poor record for Manchester United."

Not poor at all but the mark of a team with the resolve to struggle on through hard times and get jobs done, that is the mark of potential champions!

Not the first time we've done it and probably won't be the last!!!

I agree with your point but 5 goals in 5 games is a poor record for United. It doesn't mean the team was poor, just that the record was poor. I mentioned it more because of my friend's claim that we just beat team's 1-0 so i was just pointing out that there was a run of 5 games where we only scored 1 goal.

U4307,

I'm sure your friend would have loved to have seen city beat Everton 1-0 away and Swansea 1-0 away, and Sunderland 1-0 at home!!!
