THE TVDEAL - LIQUIDATION OR HYBRID

Rangers have phuq'd Scottish football mate.
Sky can negotiate an opt out as they are free to do. That deal expires the end of next season.
Sporting integrity should come first though. Clubs that are already on a poor financial footing will want to see Rangers in the SPL but the fact is Rfc have been charged with bringing the game into disrepute and should be punished.
Our problem is like the media, the SFA have offered no guidance let alone opinion on what they expect of associated clubs. UEFA will act before them.

I suspect the SFA are procrastinating so that they do not appear to be the baddies, while big bad UEFA step in and take action. Platini has said that the integrity of football has suffered on several occasions, but the smaller clubs in smaller countries, like Derry City, will be made example of. Rangers will fall into the same barrell as far as Uefa are concerned. SFA walk away squeeky clean in the eyes of the rangers fans and mutter something about 'we would not have been harsh on you'.

its all rangers fault as the only club ever to or likely to ever hit financial problems

Why did Murray not think about how much the SPL needed Rangers before he left them on the brink?

If Rangers had someone as good as big Peter they wouldn't be in this mess.

The logic I dont get here is why would Sky feel they need to re-negotiate?

NewCo Rangers still gives them their Old Firm games.

If anything, the only pressure Sky will apply is to have the points deduction kept to a minimal so that there is still a league to play for.

Doubt Uefa will step in and do anything. They have always kept fairly far away from national league matters. Plus they will understand that if they force Rangers down the leagues, it will start a domino effect.

-----------------------------------------------------

There will be no old firm - it will die along with rangers.

uefa will step in as they did when they forced the Swiss fa to deduct domestic league points from Sion.

Hoops,

Why do you think Rangers would die when its really easy to use the Leeds/Fiorentina/Charlton Athletic method to survive liquidation?

To be honest, if we need to go down to the 3rd division then that's fair enough.

Pretty sure the rest of Scottish football know that will be suicide though, so expect that we will be asked to rejoin the SPL for the good of the game.

All this rubbish about the other SPL clubs needing the OF. What happens to other clubs when they are relegated??? They find a new level to operate at. They will not go out of business if there is no rangers, but a new co in Div 3.

Clubs have been relegated for decades losing OF games and TV money and none have gone out of business, apart from Gretna, who went because of bad business practice.

Forever,

Most of them have clauses in the players contracts that reduce their wages if they go down.

If Rangers were to sink, the teams would be stuck paying top dollar without the revenue to cover it.
