He will never be the player he was in his first 2 seasons with us! Reason? Because he's lost that bit of pace he had that got him the bit of space!
thats rubbish luiz suarez. He's stil got pace. Thats not the reason hes not performing. he rarely gets the ball quick enough for him to do something with it
whenever he does get the ball, hes surrounded with 10 opposition players and about 9 of his own players so he gets crowded out and hustled off the ball
his confidence, i dont know where its at. annoying to be honest. rather than put his boot through the ball and take a shot, he passes it. he's scared to shoot
we probably have the slowest build up play in world football. the local pub pensioners team probably have more pace in their midfield than us.
hes shown us the other side to his game recently, passing, crossing, delicate one twos. hes improved in those areas a hell of a lot but he just wont shoot at the goal. confidence thing and b) he rarely gets the ball in space. another thing stopping him from returning to form.
He's still lost a bit of pace though. His ball control is woeful compared to his Liverpool days & obviously he passes it a lot more often when playing for us. I guess confidence is a big factor, he hasn't looked the same since his injury tbh but he's still younger than RVP so surely he's not finished yet

I'll go vomit now
I would hate to be a striker in this Chelsea side, all this running and never get the pass.
Hmm Torres has lost pace, but thats not totally all his game!
His shooting acuracy was excellent at Liverpool and even though he had little support attacking at Livepool he found the positions and scored goals.
But people forget that he has never really been that prolific in front of goal and at Atletico his goal rate wasnt all that, he was more of an great support striker and thats what he's morphed back into IMO.
At 28 its gotta happen sooner rather than later, however you gotta think that his best years are behind him as an out and out goal scorer,
and all this playing in systems that suit doesnt convince me. Playing in lower leagues or strikers limited capabilties (Andy Carroll for example) then fairplay, but players who are supposed to be world class should be able to play in most systems.
Torres was an isolated striker at Liverpool in a very defensive system, but he had the best form off his life!
Liverpool pressed high up the pitch in defence and got the ball to Torres quickly if (when in those days) we won the ball back.
Torres happy and scoring
Chelsea don't do that
Torres not happy and not scoring
I hate it when a £50 million pound player is crowded out by the opposition, so unfair!!
Do they not know who he is!
One player I could never lose faith in
I think he still has his pace. In terms of physicality i think he's in perfect shape now.
That was indeed Shevchenko's problem tho when Abramovich forked out on him, his legs were gone but Torres has another couple of years before he'll start slowing up.

also torres's first touch. its probably always been like that. but at liverpool, he wasnt a player who recieved the ball with his back to goal, he usually got the ball for them in a counter attack, him running onto a throughball and he would put his foot through it as soon as he got into box. now hes scared to shoot. only he can change this, but to be honest, there are more important areas to fix before we even come to torres like the woeful midfield behind him who cannot give him decent service. id start by looking at that.

How was we not a defensive side? It was gerrard and Torres and when they were injured (which was very often as they were the only ones the CB's could go for) we had no other answers!
we have no wingers yet we play 4-3-3
You're right Mr Chelsea, Wingers are desperately needed.
It's quite incredible, in English football you must have wingers.
sorry to be like that, you just hit a button on my forehead
we were defensive in the 05 season through the 06 one
after that the plan started to come together and we were top scorers in all comps one year, top scorers in the league the next. Even with lots of Torres injuries.
not playing kick and rush, lots of wingers crossing football doesn't mean defensive football. It only means you realise that's percentage football and you're better off keeping possession and crushing the opposition with it.
