I agree LIW, SG needs to get his finger out and start signing quality defenders, a holding midfielder and the small matter of......A GOALKEEPER!!

Relax guys, ow do you know this isn't already happening in the background?

There is no statement of intent at all from the club. Just some half hearted reassurances that everything will be ok. We are a much weaker team right now than when we finished last season and we were in relegation form then. I have little confidence that we can assemble a squad this year that can challenge for promotion.

Completely agree Carlos.

Would be nice to see the club saying they're going for promotion/season of consolidation whatever it might be.

It kind of feels like the latter, with the club not wishing to state that for fear of impact on season ticket sales.

Oh no!!! Brighton have signed someone and we haven't and it's the 4th July. The transfer window closes in a few hours and we don't even have a decent boot polisher on the books. Whatever are we going to do???

leedssdeel, you are missing the point -

How clubs like even Brighton appear to be showing more ambition than us.
*************************************************
true statement regarding the signing of players

Were going to be left behind if not carefull
**************************************************
also relatively true as clubs have been signing since May/June - picking up all the best free's and loanees.
We'll get the rejects if we arent careful.

I mean it is a sorry state of affairs when the likes of Swansea can attract more players than we can!

Through my job I actually know one of the money men at brighton although I have never spoken to him about football.

I'd love it as much as the next Leeds fan if we announced some decent signings today but I'm far from panicking yet. Hopefully I'll be proved correct.

I also spoke to Cascarino about Bates last week.

leedssdeel

I said appear to be more ambition, or didnt you read that.

They are gunna spend a couple of million on a player, we appear we wont with statements like we will be looking at the free market.

Seriously people read what they want to read sometimes

leedssdeel, your hope is very much shared by everybody but what are we waiting for? We have no deals done other than for a second string keeper. We have a reputation that you are hoping will change with regards to quality signings. We dont sign them. Realistically we will get 4 free transfers, 2 of which will be over the hill. Unless sg decides to change his transfer policy that is. The panic you are mocking is the unfortunate realisation that we have been here before.

liw - players available in the 'free market' are not necessarily lesser players than those that cost a couple of million. As you well know it may be that their contracts have run down - sounds familiar eh?

h-luck - of course Swansea are going to attract more/better players than us - last time I looked they just got promoted to the Prem. Now if you'd said Brighton/Donny/ipswich etc then I'd agree but as leedssdeel says be patient.

brighton, Ipswich and Doncaster are atracting better players than us at present...only first teamer we've been able to attract is Blackpool's 3rd choice keeper.

Actually I think Ipswich are a good outside bet for promotion there. good manager, knows how to get teams from this division promoted already strengthening team and with money to spend.

posted on 4/7/11

Agreed they're attracting players. Only time will tell come the start of the season as to whether they are better players than we are able to.

Lurker

I agree with what your saying but none of these freebies have hardly come off under grayson.

Don't it on the cheap wont get this club up

And teams dont normally let players worth anything go for free.

Unless its Leeds United

Lost complet respect for grayson.

THought we never mentioned targets.

39 year old has been on a few.

Been sold down the river and its time for protest because the fans are getting raped and i dont use that word likely

Valid points liw, although you'd no doubt agree that some of SG's purchases have hardly come off either!

...and Jonty, yes looks like Ipswich will be much stronger this coming season.

He's no spring chicken but turning 38 in march doesn't make him 39 quite yet.

The difference between 38 and 39 is similar to the difference between the smell of dog and cat s**t.

Bates forced Grayson to sell KS,its all about £££££££

posted on 4/7/11

Bates forced grayson to sell for less than half the price we could get for snodgrass? For the money? Sorry, don't get it.

posted on 4/7/11

KS on big wages and is a free transfer next summer

posted on 4/7/11

Like beckford and johnson then. Similar money too. Why force grayson to sell ks not the other 2?
