I don't get the fuss about Hodgson. Before a half decent spell at Fulham no-one cared.

Every big job he has had he has been sacked from.

Done alright for half a season at WBA.

Won some trophies in Lapland before I was born.

What exactly qualifies him for a top job?

Will they trust him with another 100m?

Considering it got us to two cup finals and possibly two trophies, they might do.
--------------------------------------------

But is that because of Kenny's signings or in spite of them? You can't say that they have been great can you?

if you want to spend another £82m on Adam, downing, carroll and henderson. Im sure there laughing straight to the bank

some sides can pick players (Toon, spurs, west brom to name 3). Liverpool cannot

You're just being silly now mate.

I'm sure our rubbish players will be gutted when they compare their trophy haul compared to the teams you've mentioned!

Suarez has been great. Downing was Man of the Match in the Cup final. Carroll got us to the FA Cup final. Henderson hasn't been great but he is young and Kenny has played him out of position for most of the season. Coates has did very well when called upon. Enrique has been one of our best players. Adam had a great start to the season racking up assists before he suffered when Lucas got injured, playing in a 2 man midfield with Gerrard.

So yes, all in all, they've made a good contribution to the two cup finals.

Youve got not chance against chelsea

Kenny's recent record against them is terrible after all.

Hoody....

Easy to throw stats around like "Spurs spend £230m to readch a CL QF" but in the same time (2006-11) Liverpool have spent £310m and gone from 2nd down to 8th, while having a greater Net Spend.

Even if you do end up 1 place behind, you will still be plenty of points behind Spurs. You are also assuming the LFC best case scenario (7th) and the Spurs worst case scenario (6th)....it's hypothectical and irrelevant.

We sit 4th. We have a great chance of keeping 4th. QPR, Blackburn, Villa, Bolton, Fulham is not a bad run-in and its in our hands.

Harry and the players are to be rightly ciriticised for letting a very strong position slip but we are still in it, and we are also still potentially in the race for 3rd place.

As I said all along. This is nothing to do with Spurs and if we end 6th then it will represent a poor season, and especially poor given we were 10 pts ahead in 3rd in Feb.

LFC have had an ok season, it could be even better but you have probably failed to achieve your main target and are probably now closer to top 4 than in the past 2 years.

Actually i was going from 2005 - 2010. We spent the same and you acheieved nothing compared to us. QF to us would have been failure btw. You had an open top bus.

My point is parity and I would like you to address my previous post to you.

As said, I strongly suspect that if Hoddle had taken over, made us play far more attractive attacking football whilst delivering 2 finals I don't think you'd be on this thread.

My point exactly mate. Plus they will have had some very hard matches. I think we'll win but it will be tough.

If Liverpool's treatment of Hodgson was "dreadful", what do spurs fans think of the treatment of Ramos?

Hoody.

So you spent the same as us....and then £100m more since and you sit 8th and your point is what?

Hoddle was at Spurs, got us playing beautifully, failed to get results and got sacked....legend! sacked!

Back to my original point, Rafa was sacked after a poor season. Fans blame the owners 99% for that failure. Roy turns up and is dealt an even shittier hand by the owners, has a thin squad to bolster with eff-all to spend, had some success and some failures, started badly against a back drop of no support and the fans blame him 99% for that....no mitigating circumstances, just all Roys fault.

Kenny turns up, the club has new owners and stability, 100% backing of the fans, is able to spend £115m on new players.

Roy had no chance and was treated like sh it by the fans.

The man took us to 2 points from 8 games having spent NET £55m. Rock bottom of the league by 6 points in late October.

He also took charge of one of the most horrendous 3 months I can remember after we won the Carling Cup and we then coasted for the rest of the season. It was an insult to the paying fan....first and only time i ever left a game through total disgust of the effort being applied by the players. Simply dreadful.

He was justifiably sacked.

Jol on the other hand was treated dreadfully by the Board and every Spurs fans feels great shame about the way he was treated.

posted on 20/4/12

Roy's teams played horrible defensive football. Signed players who (bar Mereiles) had little impact and insulted the fans. He was also brought in by the owners which nearly placed the club in administration.

He was on a hiding to nothing, but did sfa to suggest he would be able to effectively manage a club of Liverpool's size.

Kenny has proved it in the past and is 90 mins away from 2/3 trophies on offer in his first full season.

That's exactly how us Liverpool fans felt about Roy, only the facerubber never won us a trophy.

...

To be fair to Roy, the previous 12 months showed that we weren't even close to challenging for honours.

Not to mention mascherano leaving.

And it would have been hard for any manager to win a trophy with the lack of support and time that Roy had

I agree Metro, but I can't agree that he was the right man for the job, or showed anything that would lead me to believe that was the case.

His alienated of some of our players. From memory he pretty much dumped on Agger and Johnson in the press and I'm sure their were others. When a manager starts blaming the players and then tries to pull the wool over supporters eyes, things are only going to go one way if the football the teams serves up is neanderthal in it's approach. Hodgson's team was just awful, overly negative, with a deep defensive line with a preference for hoofing the ball into space.

I don't hate him and I hope he gets a decent reception from the fans, but he was out of his depth at Liverpool.
