Smart.
We are the form side...but we're nowhere near as good as Liverpool...
Mega pleased we are in the top four - 9 pts clear of 5th, far exceeding expectations
There arent any reasonable complaints right now
2 points between 5th and 18th
I'm not paying too much attention to the league table just yet. It's nice that we're 3rd at the moment but it's still only early November. You can still jump several places with only two or three straight wins or lose several places with two or three straight losses. Prefer to pay more serious attention to it from around Christmas/New Year onwards.

strangely enough dont think liverpool are all they are cracked up to be, just very very good in decisive moments and riding waves. We have a better midfield for sure. Yesterday city outplayed liverpool for the most part and if they got a few breaks the game could have been very different. Yesterday was dissapointing for 3 reasons:
1.VAR and officiating making me doubt the game
2. Liverpool are liverpool - nobody wants them to win
3.We won't win the league this year but would have been nice to be 5 points or whatever it would be behind them, with them going into their fixture congestion.

we shouldn't spend money in Jan
no way
we are quite well stocked all over the pitch
Pedro and Giroud leave holes but i think we can easily get by without them and can use the squad in these positions
Alonso does need replacing but we have Maatsen
I hope to god that the CAS dont overturn our ban
Wonder if pedro will play again, had a couple good games, then a couple poor ones, then got injured.
Giroud looks on his way out for sure.

Only lost one game last season Nick and amassed 97 points. Dropped just two points this season. They have a world class goalie, two world class defenders plus or emerging RB star. On paperthoer midfield looks nothing special, but on the pitch it is I incredibly effective. Front 3 need no further discussion.
Liverpool are very good
They should win the title this season and you can't begrudge them that. Frighteningly good all over the pitch
When naby kieta finally displaces Jordan Henderson in the side that is when they will be complete

Same, finishing top 4would be a great bonus, but it not what bothers me. Early days still this season Mason doubt so.e ig challenges ahead and I am more interested in how this young team deals with and learns from those than final league position
they lost 1 in the league, but several in different comps. I'm not saying their not impressive, but I thought we were the better team against them twice. Offensively they just seem to have this knack of overwhelming opposition though and its fantastic (begrudgingly) to watch

the also get decisions from VAR last nights game was an absolute travesty for VAR, clear bias and a cpmplete lack of consistency.
We have a really bad goal dissalowed agianst them as well when mount was offside about 1 minute before
the actual goal VAR trawled trhough footabge to rule it out
spurs game 3 mins was taken to judge a toe offside ,yet Salah check is over, hes offside but all decided in 10 Seconds
don't get me started on the handball
you can pretty much assume now that any 50/50 call will go in liverpools favour

This
Liverpool are good not doubting but they have been helped massively by VAR.
And I agree we were have been better both times against them. And still missing 2 big players (more at the time)
Strengthen in a few places and we can give pool a run for their money.
RLC And Rudi back will be massive and like 2 new signings and as long as no more injuries will give Frank the type of head ache managers dream of

I think we were at least their equal in the Super Cup but they were certainly the better team at SB. In particular their massive defensive superiority in comparison to us shines out in both games..
As Chelsea fans we harp on about how strong our 2005 and 2006 PL champions side was yet Liverpool beat their points record (even though they did not end up champions) That should not be dismissed.
True - but at the same time I would argue the level of opposition is lower certainly in the top 4/6. Maybe on the other side the overall strength of the league has gone up. But in those earlier years there was always 3/4 teams capable of winning the league, and had the squads.
And 100% disagree re them being the better side at the Bridge. Dont think they had any shots apart from set pieces all game. You didnt even know Mane or Salad were playing. We have our shooting boots on and we dont get screwed by officials we win easily. Big chances missed by Tammy and Willian if memory serves. And both their goals come from very fortunate reffing decisions.
But missed chances for me don't make an argument for being superior, they actually make an argument for being inferior....if one team is more clinical in their finishing and better at defending then their opponent then in my book they are the better team on the day.
If i heard Frank correctly after the Palace game, he was saying that despite the high number of goals we have conceded this season, stats show we are not conceding too many clear chances...if that is true i am not sure how to interpret that...............does it mean that we are so feckin bad at defending that teams only need a sniff of a chance against us to score, or does it mean we have been a bit unlucky so far, and that over the season that will even itself out and we will concede less?
