People also seem to ignore that the flu is less contagious and has a treatment. It's spread and severity are also mitigated by an active immunization program. Hopefully the measures that we've taken are reflected in the coming weeks.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
are vaccines good or bad? do they weaken and compromise your immune system?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
They work better than people coughing on your food
----------------------------------------------------------------------

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Seriously though, vaccines have been shown to work and have had a demonstrable impact on reducing/eliminating several diseases. You can think of it as a way to train or strengthen your immune system.

Sweden taking a different approach to this:

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-52076293

Sweden has comparatively few cases so far compared to things getting worse in Spain which is on full lockdown and nobody even allowed out to excercise. Very odd.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
They have a very different demographic and I would imagine a much lower population density - outside of Stockholm
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Whilst this is true, both Norway and Finland have taken a completely different approach.

Also, whilst population density is low in Sweden, you do actually have a lot of people living in close proximity to each other in apartment complexes. And with great distances between different places, public transport is often really busy.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Sweden still has a population of 10 million so it will be very interesting to see how their very different approach to this works. So far only 3500 cases and 105 deaths.

Spain by comparison is in total lockdown with police issuing 600 Euro fines to anyone who doesn't comply. And yet it's as bad there as anywhere, certainly Europe.

soc if a person from corona coughed on say a pork chop, and u then ate that pork chop would you catch the corona but your stomach would kill the virus and you'd be immune from it?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It likely wouldn't be transmitted but it also will not give you immunity. Don't ask your neighbor to cough on your Nandos.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Just curious fair enough

Nando’s is shut mate has been since monday

Maybe you can order some Peri Peri sauce and have a go yourself

Mr Lukashenko, an avid ice hockey player who has been in power since 1994, has downplayed the need for social distancing - and Belarus is one of the only countries that has taken few measures to curb COVID-19's spread.

In recent weeks, the president has suggested that Belarusians should drink 50ml of vodka a day to ward off the virus, but not at work - advice that is completely at odds with recommendations from the World Health Organisation.

He has also stated that regular trips to the sauna, working in the fields and having breakfast on time are the best ways to stay healthy - dismissing stricter measures imposed in neighbouring Russia and elsewhere as "frenzy and psychosis".

Wait is a sauna a good thing in general for illnesses. Never thought of the idea.

Yes. But wont do anything against this virus.

Fly to Belarus, fly your mates there, drink vodka, work in the fields, come back, continue to self isolate. No rules broken.

no evidence he even had it ffs

But regardless as with the flu even some young / no real risk people will sadly die regardless

as RTM said won't really help with something like this, but they are great in general for your skin and clearing out your insides and lungs

Yeah, I hope it works for them. Data is scarce but looking at deaths indicate similar growths as other countries.

daily mail are still using this

In the UK, the youngest healthy victim is 21-year-old Chloe Middleton, of High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, who died earlier this week.

Even though it's been confirmed she died of a heart attack...

posted on 29/3/20

‘Middleton was taken to Wexham Park hospital in Slough last weekend after she had a heart attack. Attempts to resuscitate her failed and she was pronounced dead soon after arriving… A Berkshire coroner said the death was related to Covid-19 after being told Middleton had a cough, the source said. But this surprised medics at the hospital, who have not recorded it as a coronavirus incident.’

An NHS source tells the Guardian that ‘the coroner’s move “raised eyebrows” at the hospital because [Middleton] had not tested positive for the disease’.

This shows us the dangers of allowing political imperatives – ie, the need for young people to take this crisis seriously – to get ahead of the facts. Amid this outbreak we need clear-eyed discussion of what’s really going on.

It seems this tragedy was too swiftly leapt upon and turned into a cautionary tale about Covid-19, purely because it aligned with some people’s worst fears. We need to do better.

Not that I can't believe that there could be misreporting in this case, important to note that the Guardian have now taken that article offline 'pending review', and it is very odd that a coroner would just put 'death to coronavirus' because someone (who?) told the coroner she had a cough. Many more things to consider..if she arrived to hospital needing resuscitation as reported.

A coroner..who's job it is to fully investigate unexpected deaths..just puts 'death to coronavirus' cos some rando told them she had a cough? And in absence of a positive test? Something doesn't add up with that story

I suppose it is possible to die of a heart attack due to corona virus. If you are drowning in lung fluid I would imagine it is possible to go into cardiac arrest
