I'm not saying it wasn't justifiable, but it shows how much our expectations have changed the last 10+ years. Many of the same things leveled at him could've (and were) leveled at Sarri as an example - one trick pony, hard to relate to, some players unsettled, etc... but where Sarri split the fanbase, Scolari by the end had practically no support.

It hammers home to me at least how good we were back then. W7 D5 L3 Nov through to Hull game - that return was considered catastrophic to us in 2008! How times have changed man.

AVB's gotta resent Lampard a bit if he's watched us this season. Funny thing is Lampard's cut players off the same way he did & somehow he's gotten responses from them/it hasn't poisoned the group.

Bet he wishes players like Giroud were in the squad around 2011-12, not whiney babies like... Frank Lampard

We have been worse post 2012 and we weren't among the elite clubs in Europe from 2013-2017 but then no English club was. We were all pretty terrible compared to Atletico, Barca, Real, Bayern etc.

But over that period we won the most trophies in England (well joint with Arsenal), accumulated the most points and competed for the title 3 out of 4 seasons winning 2.

Conte was very important in that success in 2016/17 but it rewrites history slightly to say we weren't among the elite clubs in England in 2016.

Conte wasn't important in that success he was pivotal. I believe because of his philosophy, mentality and intensity he is the only manaqer that could have led Chelsea to a title that season

And I'm almost certain AVB would've been sacked for it, reflective of how high Roman's standards were back then. Transitional season or not 66pts & getting KO'ed in CL last 16 first leg at home? His manager's not got a prayer in 2012.

There's no greater gauge between past & present day standards of Abramovich & the fans than when you watch back footage of Scolari's run. We started like a house on fire till November, literally had a handful of poor/shocking games & he was kicked to the curb early February - this despite the club royally f***ing up his transfer window. It reminds you how damn good we were back then that it wasn't controversial in the slightest that he was sacked.

I think it wasn't controversial mostly because he lost the key pesonalities in the dressing room...namely Terry, Cole, Lampard and Drogba....talk about a miscalculation by AVB
