If Liverpool can win it anyone can
Jose and Spurs are a real fecking danger this season. People talk about our attack as being dangerous but Kane and Son are on another level. Their understanding makes them far more dangerous than our attackers who are still getting used to both the league and each other. If they stay fit, Spurs have a decent chance at the title.
In any case, the battle for top four is likely to be more competitive this season than the last. Pool, City, Spurs, Everton, Leicester, Arsenal and United are all gonna be competing for CL places. We can't afford to play like we did yesterday and drop precious points at home if we want to be in the conversation.

Yeah we definitely needed an extra midfield sub at 3-2.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We've got rid of them all
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I'll never understand why Lampard ditched the 4-3-3 in favour of 4-2-3-1. We've always looked unbalanced in the middle with a two-man pivot regardless of the combination. Having a dedicated player sitting in front of the back four is the only way I see our defence not getting isolated. As it stands, the two CMs seem to go on walkies far too often.
Oh god
It is Jose's 2nd season too
Son is fantastic but also very streaky. Won’t keep this firm/performances up. If he does though..he’s looking at player of the season level

because we spend £70m on a number 10.
I know some people will say why not play Havertz as an 8 instead. It's certainly an option and against WBA him and Mount in front of Kante in the second half did well, I thought.
But I don't think it's his best position. And if you're spending that amount on a player, generally you build the team around them.
How well Spurs do in the league this season probably depends on how much Jose wants to win the other cups. If he makes the league his main priority I can definitely see them challenging for the title.

They only play like it's the Cup Final when they play us. In all their other derby games against the likes of Spurs and Arsenal they nearly always get steamrolled.

It would be a massive turn of events if Spurs end up seriously challenging for the title. Have to admit I didn't see that coming at all. Maybe Jose isn't as washed up as many of us (myself very much included) have been saying.

That's a fair shout but if that's the case we need a completely new midfield. Kovacic, Kante and Jorginho all have major weaknesses when paired with each other.
On one side, I'd say it's down to their qualities as players but then again, there's certain mistakes they make that definitely look tactical in nature. Multiple times both Jorginho and Kante both went to press high in Southampton's half while our defence sat back. So unless thay have difficulties listening to Lampard's instructions, this is an issue that (theoretically) can easily be sorted on the training ground.
Second season Jose is always a force to be reckoned with.
Things could well turn sour next season instead, as they usually do for him, but if he does well this season then Spurs fans will say it's worth it.
Getting a solitary DM won't suddenly fix our issues. One injury and we'll be back to square one unless the system also changes.
I think RLC's injury has also contributed to messing with the balance of the midfield. If he had been able to keep pushing on after that Sarri season as the attacking CM in a 3, then we'd probably still be playing 4-3-3. But we had to plan for this season as if he didn't exist.
Id have City as favourites now tbh

Something that got overlooked is after Zouma had made the error...didn't bust a gut to stop the Southampton goal.
His attitude was "fůck it, I'll leave them to it", goal was avoidable if he had made an effort to get back.
Watched as it all unfolded. Cardinal sin...

He makes a very good point. This is fecking disgraceful in all honesty. Could have easily recovered if he showed the same level of awareness or desire as the attackers to win the second ball. Kepa is to blame of course but I'm more mad at Zouma now.
When a player messes up, surely their immediate instinct should be to do whatever they can to clean up their mess. Zouma himself has done that in the past with his last ditch recoveries. Never give up.
I'm sure it was because he thought kepa would get it

Even after Kepa misses it though he's not chasing back. Only starts to make some kind of effort once it's too late. If he'd immediately reacted to it, like the other players on the pitch, he could have potentially fixed it.
