Maybe he felt loyal to Spurs. Too much for his own good

If he actually does want to leave though in search of trophies, then he’s a mug

I guess his previous salary wasn’t nearly as high as he was worth as well. So the contract extension was in chase of the short term £££

The fact that he signed it when he still had a decent amount of time left on the previous deal makes it so much worse

Let’s be honest, if he asked them for a pay increase without an extension they would have given him it, they’ll do anything to keep him.

He really must just be outright stupid or blindly loyal.

If we'd have bought Lukaku back or even better never even sold him at all then we might have avoided the last four years and counting of striker problems

I think it is difficult to say this era of City is not a great side - Pep has won three titles in five years surpassing the former 95 points record twice - if he wins the CL too it is hard to say Chelsea's teams are comparable.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Without any real competition. Even the year we won it city we’re probably still a better side. I think city struggle to get 90 points in the late 00s personally. Eras define a teams greatness and the 00s was probably the best for England. Constant semi finals and cl final appearances.
Liverpool and city are of course great sides but doing it against a weaker league imo,
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Eh? Liverpool took them to within a point with a total of 98, and then won it the following year with 99.

2017-2019 was probably the most impressive example of having two elite level teams in the league since Chelsea-United in the late 2000s.

City won the domestic treble last year (we have never done that) and Pep won as many major trophies in his first three seasons that Mourinho did under us.

I also completely reject the idea that 20 v 20 the league is weaker. I think it is much stronger in mid-lower table than it used to be. Making picking up points generally more difficult.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Missed my point. I said Liverpool and city are great. Just think the rest of the league or Atleast the rest of their rivals are crap atm.

Yeah I don’t see how you can just miss out these Liverpool and City sides when talking about great British sides.

Nobody done that

Okay for the people that didn’t understand. Although Lower half sides are probably better, top sides of any decade should still beat them. Is in 04/05 would smash palace etc now. But the competition in around the top 4 is a lot worse. The big sides in Europe are awful atm
And I’d still have more faith in Utd, chelsea, arsenal and Liverpool in the late 00s to challenge the good Bayern Barca and Madrid sides Than us to challenge Bayern now.

The league is completely unbalanced atm and Liverpool if not for injuries and city would both finish 25 points ahead of the rest of us this season

posted on 4/3/21

Intact football in general is unbalanced. Talking in fifa terms(I know) there’s probably Bayern, city, Liverpool (when fit) and maybe PSG? Who are 5 star teams.

In 00s you had us, Utd, Barca, Madrid, ac Milan, munich, Arsenal (at least til 06), inter Milan and I could be forgetting someone.

It's not usual to see both Spanish Giants struggling as well. In the past they've had Messi & CR7 at their peak to keep their level at the top.

But yeah atm it's City & Bayern who are probably the elite clubs.

Lots of teams going through the rebuilding stage at the same time is also not common.

Not sure how Barca can get out the hole they are in...absolute mess. Can’t play countinho because they’d have to pay out another 5 million euros or something. Let Suarez go for free. Madness

Just seen people’s comments on Kane. I wonder if teams have been reluctant to go in for him, not just because of levy but due to his injuries
