Since we've been bought by Roman we've continuedly confounded these sorts of reports saying we are tapped out for money
If he wants to buy someone he will buy someone and the finances get figured out
I think Kai's prospects look better if we fail to get Haaland
Which is likely tbf
I don’t like how they want to change the CL format regardless of any other shenanigans. It takes something good and deliberately ruins it. The only reason is to have more big clubs involved who have more fans than smaller clubs to earn more money. Reduce the chance of teams competing on merit. Not because of any positive impact on the enjoyment of the game.
With regards to finances i wonder how on earth Barca could afford it, Madrid arent in great shape either
No way Barca can afford anything close to what it would take to sign Erling

Other clubs in England would probably be happy to see us leave tbf. Would make the PL more competitive. Leicester probably champs
I know it’s a bit hypocritical to complain about money and greed ruining football given our success, but a line still gets drawn somewhere. I would say this is that line. Don’t think it’ll actually happen though.

If the CL gets replaced with a European league that runs parallel to the PL, it will be a greedy mess but I could stomach it probably.
If the PL offers an ultimatum and we leave to be part of some international new league made by a bunch of US banks where we play Inter in Qatar one day and then Bayern in Sydney on another then they can fack off frankly. I will support Reading.

Agree, but not sure the first idea is possible without the second. The PL would surely threaten any team that would qualify for the new CL format and say they can’t receive PL money, because it discredits the importance of PL results. What’s the point in a top 4 race if you’re guaranteed qualification into this alternative league anyway.

Sounds like the American sports system; no promotion or relegation.
Maybe Arsenal owners for example are fed up of not having guaranteed CL money anymore so want to protect their investments.
If it actually happens though I’ll be surprised because it’s such a drastic change. More importantly, if domestic fans protest against it, then the Haven probably dies lol.
On the other hand with the way the CL spots are decided, i do find it a little ridiculous we could make the CL final and not qualify to be in it next year
There are too many big teams in England now to some extent when we only get 4 spots

It would be hilarious if the FA kick out any teams who sign up for it. I know that they rely on big teams for TV revenue but it would be a big statement to make, and long term they’d probably be able to recover.

The problem as mentioned above is who cares if the local fanbases don't like it when they have an international fan base thrilled with the idea. Who cares if we protests a our ground or do walkouts if they move our games to a different venue every week as part of an international programme. Doesnt matter what season ticket holders think if millions of fans in Asia now get to see us tour Japan and China and Indonesia etc etc
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Hence why I think its an issue justifying govt intervention.
Are international fans thrilled with the idea?
Probably smart timing to suggest this while no fans are in attendance lol
