I’d like to see us still use a back 4 in certain games, particular against defensive teams where the onus is on us to attack and break them down. Get an extra attacking player on the pitch.
Our strongest games under Tuchel have come against top sides where our chances come from counterattacks.
Palace being the exception

This squad is suited to 3 at the back. It's something that a few on here have banged on about since Conte's days. I found it difficult to comprehend why we moved away from it. Has Tuchel recognised this or does anyone know if this is this the system he played pre Chelsea ?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He doesn’t have one set formation as far as I’m aware, eg at PSG he liked 4-2-4, even then he didn’t use that every game.
Maybe the bigger contrast to his previous styles is in general, we’re really solid defensively but not scoring a whole lot of goals (if partly down to poor player finishing). At previous clubs he had more a rep for really good attacking football and attempting to out score the opposition primarily
3 at the back can be attacking as TT has used CHO or James aa attacking RWB. CHO v Burnley at home is a good example.

Thanks for reply VDT. I didn't follow TT previously but he really has found a way raising us from 9th on arrival to have a chance of top 4 FA cup and Champions League finals. Amazing.
Yeah CHO against defensive teams was something he did initially but just stopped for whatever reason.
Thiago Silva’s wife is fackin quality love her passion and support

I keep thinking back to Kante's anticipation for that 2nd goal... Was it a pure gamble?
It just seemed unreal how quickly he sensed that there was an opportunity to win possession. Like he knew the header to Nacho was going to be short before it was even played.

Yup - just pure WC ability. It really makes you understand why so many managers look to "unshackle" Kante and allow him to try and win the ball high up the pitch. Turnovers in possession can become attacks in the blink of an eye with Kante.

Yup guy was incredible. I fully take back anything slightly negative I've said about N'Golo this season.

This position suits him best as well
As a DM he can’t win the ball as high up
But as an 8 his shortcomings on the ball are more exposed

Nice that Tuchel came in and almost immediately said ‘Kante is a 6 in a pair’
And he has followed up with that
