Villa have had poor results this season. One of the big reasons is because their 2/3 of their replacements for Grealish have been underwhelming so far. That’s all I’m saying, no vortex.

They’re playing Arsenal right now and losing. Maybe if the new signings were better, they wouldn’t be losing. They could get better later but right now they’re not doing great.

I am not saying your observations are wrong, I am just increasingly jaded of narratives around signings, managers, clubs etc that are based on judgements that can literally change in a matter of games.

ie Havertz tomorrow

- scores a hat trick “See, I told you he is great”
- does nothing and we drop points “Waste of space, worst signing of RA era, we are facked”

Arsenal have played really well. They have random performances like this under Mikel Arteta, and for all Villa’s spending Arsenal have a more expensive squad and had the highest net spend this summer.

So Arsenal winning and Villa being lacklustre is not a surprise or a basis to make a judgement on Villa’s signings, imo.

Whenever there’s a lot of talk about Arteta getting the boot he some how gets Arsenal back in a decent position. Ole does the same. Hopefully they beat Liverpool this weekend.

Biggish up against Average. Don’t let us down.

Tbf he does need to step up in the coming games

My opinion has evolved from not wanting him in the first place and mega disappointed, being way more optimistic after TT took over last season and now not really sure what to expect anymore. Think he’ll be remembered as a good squad player by the time he leaves us (ala Willian), but I’m not seeing a £70m generational talent in there (ala KDB).

Winning the CL has made me a lot more relaxed about football in general. Anything extra in the coming years is a bonus.

I forgot some people overrate his time at Chelsea massively.

Might even have summoned Gazza, as criticising Robben is the equivalent of saying Candyman three times in the mirror if you want him to show up.

I think he will be good in patches like he has been so far for the next 2-3 seasons, then we will sell him to Bayern after getting annoyed with him. Marina will get our money back and we will pat ourselves on the back.

Then he will have a Ballon d’or winning decade long career at Bayern Munich and Biggish will smash his iPad in frustration at the typo-ridden rage posts that follow!

I'm seeing a Berbatov/United type legacy for Havertz. He'll be a bit of an afterthought but they'll be enough moments (not just the CL final) to remember him perhaps a little more fondly than would be warranted. He's gunna score a few really silky goals for us

Don't see a Ballon D'or in his future. When he leaves he'll have similar levels of success for his next club.

Disagree personally, I think his ceiling is very high, higher than Mount's imo.

Any Chelsea fan calling the goalscorer in one of our two CL trophies an after thought should be forced to watch Spurs instead.
