Who knew this victory would be so pyrrhic?

Like most of us said it as soon as Chilly was announced as an ACL
Losing Lukaku and Werner to Malmo was also bad
We lost 4 players to injury chasing a top spot we didnt get and due to the draw it ended up not really mattering anyway

Spain super cup final was between two teams who won neither the league nor the cup
well yeah they do a 4 team tourney thing no?
Lol yeah, in Saudi. Kinda lost the meaning of the cup but I guess the teams are happy to get their payday.
Ffs this LWB signing is going to drag out to the last day of the transfer window
tlll as always just a beacon of hope and positivity
Lamps to Everton is a thing apparently
Probably the level of club he was looking for, one he’d be hard pressed to relegate

Djok thrown out...
word is he played brilliantly in the Aussie Open
Only missed two shots
Yesterday Genoa sacked Andriy Shevchenko after three points in nine Serie A games since he arrived to replace Davide Ballardini.
Think AC is going to be leaving. He will not move to another PL club out of respect. Bayern & Barca leading the race.
Shame to see him go as he's probably playing the best he has for us since TT arrived

Rumours we are after Fofana.
I think Rudiger-Fofana would be a good CB pairing tbf. Silva can rotate in with Chalobah too.
I think a huge issue with ours and even Man Utd’s squad is the difference in class between our best and worst players. Nothing personal on this but strictly judging their football abilities our strength is depth is a lot poorer than pundits often cite. (Us on here knowing the truth that our strength in depth is actually a bit of a myth, Atleast in attacking positions)
If Thiago silva, rudi, kante are A rated players, we have alonso, rlc, Barkley, Werner, havertz, ziyech, pulisic, cho, lukaku who are a range of C-F.
The gulf in class is huge and the lack of quality in forward positions has been evident now for a few years.
It’s not only finishing either, as seen with city our ability to turn overloads and good attacking positions into a lack of clear cut chance is woefully poor football. We waste so many opportunities that cannot even be measured by expected goal metrics. We don’t get into the positions to create the chance in the first place a lot of the time when it should end in something like a one on one. The times we do, we end up missing
I like Fofana, would take him as an AC replacement. One of those players easy to forget how young he is despite him looking so comfortable at top level. But then Obvs it is Leicester so they’d want a big fee

I can't disagree with what you say but what's more telling is the lack of goals. You go back a few years and we had goal threats all over the pitch, hell i would trust kalou than most these days but heck even our "bit part players" almost guaranteed 10ish per season; Willian, Pedro for example (yes I know Willian become less bit part in his later years here but prior to that he would always get a few) and then we had goals all across the pitch from the likes of Oscar, Mata, Cahill, and of course Hazard. We don't seem to have replaced any of these with scorers, Christ Anelka was basically our 3rd striker and I am guessing we would love him to be leading our line these days!
Jesus you gotta hate Jose some days - anyone and their blind granny could see what KDB was about (ok I am guessing there was a big chance he ended up at Madrid or Barca by now)
Guessing what I am trying to say is in our last 5 years we haven't really kept up our goal threat, and no one has really stepped up, we relied on Hazard to get us out of sticky situations and this papered over the transition to what we have these days
Very hard to replace someone like Hazard, was one of a kind tbh. But yeah, the current crop are yet to step up. I have more confidence in our defenders in front of goal than our forwards which probably says it all.
