As one of the most expensive FB's the guy has zero attacking ability. What did our scouting team see in him to spend that much money on him?

Chelsea we're back

Didn't get to watch the match but from the sounds of it, both Santos and Casadei looked good?

I have a feeling one of them will stay (and the other go out on loan). Santos is the more defensive of the two so might have a more obvious spot (backing up Caceido) this season.

Though difficult to draw any conclusions from a single preseason game against tier-4 opp. The next few games will probably make things a bit clearer.

Given our lack of midfield options and the fact that the likes of Brighton are trying to shaft us can't we just keep both Casadei and Santos in the squad for this coming season ?

Yup, as left winger. Had been playing there in training too . Two v good finishes from him today. Could easily see him playing backup LW in the league - and LB against more defensive sides (when Chilwell is unavailable)

Might be difficult to keep him, Cucurella and Chilly happy.

Seriously, what a waste buying Cucurella knowing we had Maatsen and potentially Hall as backups

Chilly will inevitably get injured for a few months during the season though. Would love to keep Maatsen for this season.

The worst part is we already knew we had Maatsen likely returning the next year.

That amount for Cucu was bonkers.

It was also quite telling that Hall was hardly any worse than Cucu last season, and sometimes better than him.

Him being effectively our DOF last summer was always going to go badly. But he got sacked straight after, before he could feel the consequences of those short sighted transfers.

It’s why I thought it could have been better to keep Cech, Marina etc that summer. They had already started some of the negotiations. Then clean slate afterwards.
