The thing to not be embarrassed about when it comes to our spend is the wages! I could argue for the outlay we've made we should be seeing players like Bellingham, Haaland, Rice, Kim Min-Jae, etc... over here. But those players would come with premium wage packages that would be devastating even if only a few of them didn't work out.

Too spend what we have, but equally have the modest (base) wage bill we do is kind of impressive
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Quite honestly I don't get embarrassed about our spend even if I wish it had been spent better in both RA and Clearlake ownerships. We've always spent big since RA took over anyway.

It only seems to be a big problem when it's Chelsea spending big though. Utd spent shedloads in the post Fergie era on transfers and wages with little to show for it but that was never deemed to be too much of an issue for whatever reason.
---------------------------------------------------
Well you're a bigger man than me cos it is embarrassing.

Imagine if Spurs did this? Just imagine the levels of bantery they'd be suffering right now? We're lucky we've still got that lingering Roman's Chelsea fear in the back of opposition fan's heads, it's the only thing giving us a shred of respect.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I mean I'm embarrassed about some of the crap we've bought in both the RA and Clearlake eras but I'm not embarrassed about the money we've spent. Football is all about money, has been for a while and all top flight clubs spend big amounts of money to varying degrees.

Please don't compare us to Spurs though lol, they're a potless, bottling embarrassment of a club who couldn't in their wildest dreams imagine what it's like to win all the trophies we've been winning since 1997.

I still think we have the highest or second highest wage bill due to sheer number of players though so this doesn't really ring true.

40 players on an average of 150k is obviously more than 30 players on an average of 160/170k with wider margins of top performers to bottom.

Yep you're right, I should've fact checked that

Well if we ever develop to discipline to stop buying players & actually trim the squad it'll be modest

It's not about one individual match, just everything we're doing.

Hypothetically, if ENIC sold up to ambitious owners who spent record sums as we've done, I think even Spurs fans know they'd somehow f*ck it up/dramatically get worse

Just noticed Liam Rosenior's managing Strasbourg.

These guys really enjoyed the Championship last year

Armando [Broja] is going to be a bit of time. I think everyone is aware of that situation. He's got an injury and that's going to take a bit of time

I thought everyone knew he was injured. It’s why his move to Ipswich didn’t go through.

Wonder what's going to happen with Chilwell - train with the U21s until January? Try to find him a new club then or integrate him back in the team?

I like Maresca especially how straight to the point he is in interviews, he'll need a lot of time to get his ideas across, will he get that, who knows.

Quite like what we have going forward, there's some talented players in the attacking half of the pitch.

Balance in midfield seems to be an issue, no Lavia doesn't help.

Defence and GK big worry imo

Expectation for the league are similar to last season, maybe a late push for top 4 depending on how well the players take to this style of play.

A cup would be nice, whether that be in Europe or domestically

Personally imo,

As long as we maintain some type of progression on the pitch, players within the squad, club operation & the boardroom stuff gets sorted either way.

We get the reporting failures 2012- 2019 out of the way & the financial geniuses at the club continue to manage the FFP/ PSR compliance requirements

I personally would be happy with that, considering the mess the ownership have created.

By that on the pitch, i mean, we begin to gel as squad, develop a spine, players & our ability to control games continue to improve, we compete at a 6 place level & have some decent cup runs.

I think the turning point for us should be when the reporting failures sanctions are levied against us,& the ownership squabble is resolved.

After that imo, we should see the type of club we really are.

Enzo Maresca on Ben Chilwell:

"We will sit with him and find solutions. He is probably going to be back with us [training]. We will see. At the moment, he is not training with us. The reason why he [was] training apart, is because the idea was for him to leave."
