The idea was to make a point that people shouldn't have to hide their 'offending' identity because a bunch of racists have a problem with it. Then we had a kind of spontaneous "I'm Spartacus!" moment late last night, which took on much more momentum than anyone expected.
Personally, I find it heart-warming to find enough community spirit here that so many people decided to proclaim their solidarity.
If we start to see groups of men wearing Arabic head dress in central Manchester, this movement has either broken out into the wider community or it's a stag do.
...or they are actual Arabs.

1. We never 'made' Arab Manc change his display name, we just requested that he do.
2. A name like 'Arab Manc' contains personal information of the type we always try and dissuade users from divulging.

Surely instead of having to change your name because of abuse, the mods could just ban them? I mean they find it easy enough banning us from boards and the entire site, why not ban the posters outright? How hard can it be? A few mouse clicks?

Well he is suggesting since I'm not English it's hypocritical that I was supporting an English club, however the idiot does not know what multiculturalism means. My parents are foreigners and I was born in England, but the fool thinks Britain is all White English.

We if I recall at no point asked him to change him name.
However things we have no interest on the site:
Race, Religion and Politics. As far as we are concerned it is an anonymous SPORTS forum.
For example. The EnglishDefenceLeague guy was banned because he refused to change his display name(that time we did ask) and ultimately that was how his account was defined.

Thanks for your explanation. To answer your question, I don't think CFCM deserved to be banned in that instance. I also think the exchange illustrates the fact that Arab Manc needs to behave better in terms of avoiding stereotyping others (I once had a go at him for comments he made about Scousers).
I still don't think it is the appropriate course of action to request a name change. In my view, it send the wrong message about how to respond to racism.
Having said that, I recognise that you have attempted to do the best thing to sort out an issue, and done so with the right motives. Generally I think the Admins do a great job of treading the line between keeping the board civilised and not being too heavy handed.

That poster was complaining about United's foreign fanbase and having a dig at it, so I told him the truth. They have a large African fanbase and the club use that to exploit it for financial reasons as do all other clubs in Europe. It's a fact, I was not being racist SLM. All I did was highlight his hypocrisy.
I'm one who holds his hands up and sometimes makes ADMIN's lives hard, (WUMMING is contagious), but fluck me they do a grand job and the site is awesome.

This is the day I got banned from the Leeds board, I reported the racial comments and you deleted them rightly but as you can see that person provided a link to a racist facebook page. Surely that deserves a ban?
