Past, present and future in one midfield
I managed to get some tickets for Old trafford £20 to see Team GB V Senegal followed by Uruguay V UAE should be quality. Would love to see Beckham play again tho ourely for nostalgia as if we're taking it seriously he and giggs should be anywhere near it.
Has the Olympic squad been announced now?
No need for any of the old farts to be there. This should be players for the future only.

I wouldnt call it excited, as I thnk it will be a disgrace if Beckham is picked, and an insult to a lot of footballers in this country.

Who would you take? Considering we can only take three over 23's, the squad will be reletively inexperienced.
I'd say players like Beckham and Giggs are perfect role models in terms of footballing exploits for the young lads to look up to.
It's not as though Team GB have a host of world class players waiting in the wings, espeically considering the Euro's are a couple of weeks prior and we can't take any England players.
Can I add we have the home advantage, and the likes of Beckham are going to generate a better atmosphere than a Craig Bellemy who is about the best we have anyway.
You cant pick Beckham because he might get more high pitched screams in the stadium from the school girls.
There are loads of players that should be ahead of Beckham on footballing terms. You also dont even have to take 3 over age players, and there's a good argument for just going with players for the future or ones needing tournament exposure for the future.
Beckham hasn't played serious competitive football for a long time. It might also be seen as more important to create more of a mix of the GB nations rather than just focus on England players, given it's team GB, but I'd prefer footballing talent to dictate who plays.
If people want to argue for other home nation players ahead of Beckham then Giggs is a better candidate as is Bellamy. Steven Fletcher is another example of someone ahead of Beckham but a nationality other than english.
Joe Cole would be a better option than Beckham as well if you're going for experience, but someone still playing in a good European league. Rio could obviously go as well on that basis if SAF let him.
Then we get to players not going to the Euros (but should be) like Richards and Adam Johnson who are both way ahead of Beckham on almost every playing measure these days, and will hopefully go to a tournament in the future.
Charlie Adam of Scotland hasnt had a great season but again would surely be ahead of Beckham on current football ability, mixing up the home nations, and the fact he's actually plays in a strong league.
Then we could go through all the young players that it would be more beneficial to go instead of using a place on Beckham, and they would all be a better player now anyway.
I can only see the pt of taking an overage player ahead of a younger one if they are going to really significantly strengthen the squad on the playing side i.e. they are better than all the underage players who they will stop going, they play in a position where we dont have any real prospects for the future that would be hindered, and of course their experience on the pitch will bring even more value on top.
