You really are the thickest City fan I've ever come across.

We do have the measure of you when we play you - what part of that is inaccurate? That doesnt mean we're a better team than you though. Our respective league positions are testament to that.

And why would I say we're beter than you when by my own admission I'd just said we're not?

This is just too easy

What exactly do you mean by "having the measure of you"?

We have beaten you 4-2 and 3-0 twice in the last 3 seasons and knocked you out of the CC. twice.

Why the last 3 seasons? Why not the last 2 seasons where we've taken 7 points off you out of a possible 12.

The CC wins have come when we fielded the majority fringe players/players just coming back from injury and you have to admit, when you beat 1-0 at the Emirates it was against the run of play. City can afford to have two quality XI's though, we can't afford to have the same quality in depth.

In the last 3 seasons we have played you 8 times, we've won 5 and drawn 1 yet you have the measure of us.

...and I'm the thick one.

On the basis of general performances and when our first XIs have played, we do.

4-2, 3-0, 1-0 at the Etihad, the only time we haven't knocked you out of the CC in the last 3 years, you got to the final.

The fact you fielded so called weaker teams is no excuse, we both have squads of 25 players and we're both chasing the same trophys.

So the fact that you have far more quality in depth than us doesn't make a difference?

Your manager presumably picks a team he thinks will win, same as ours.

Generally in the CC he sees it as an opportunity to blood youth. It's only very recently where he's given a blend of youth and experience. Nevertheless, the quality you have always makes a difference. If you have better quality players than us, then you stand a favourable chance of winning in any competition.

Or the fact their owners, with more money than sense, spend like lottery winners with 2nd and 3rd string players who cost much more than anyone with our squad. Thoroughly classless club who have no real policy other than spending your way out of your problems and make Abramovic look shrewd.

That said, I think our fans should lay off Nasri. We created this acerbic relationship by making his departure unnecessarily acrimonious with the disrespectful taunts.

Sheriff, so you're saying we have a better squad, fans and owners

I don't have a problem with Nasri tbh, when some of our fans keep abusing him it just makes us look bitter, we should just move on.

Better squad - evidently, you'd have to be managed by monkeys to not have one after your spending.

Better fans? Certainly not the classless cha.vs I'm seeing around.

Better owners? If that's what you call siphoning money from your people and country to blow it like a cheap lottery winner in another country.

Revenue that's exceeded by your wages and unrivalled losses. I have no problem with investment - it's the realistic way of competing with the big boys - but your lot have taken it to a whole new level that makes Chelsea's Russian revolution look frugal in comparison. Simply obscene and showing no signs of abating.

posted on 9/6/12

Actually it is abating. The owners have said that ideally they would have preferred to have spread the spending out over a longer period, but the impending FFP made it imperative to get into the top tier before it kicks in and the ladder is effectively pulled up from those outside the top four.
The whole reasoning behind the massive investment in the new academy is so that there won't be a need for investment on the previous scale.
Ironically, it's the spectre of FFP that has brought about the spending, rather than preventing it.

No club has increased revenue as much as we have, our owners have a plan and the spending that was done had purpose, to break into the top four and put us in the champions league club bracket, because of ffp the initial outlay whilst expensive was necessary, ffp is designed to keep the old sky four where they were, we had to have a larger spend to achieve this.

I really can't believe this fact still escapes all the armchair accountants out in football world.

Look at the investment in players an infrastructure, look at the new sponsorship deals an partnerships in local an foreign buisness we are forging and if you still can't see its working then well really you're not as clever as our owners!

I wonder what we happen if we don't spend £185m in this transfer window like we did 2 years ago - Will we be relegated now that we already have our title winnining squad peppered with players in their mid 20's.
