i have to admit that many yrs ago i wnated scotland to win .. i remember the world cup game where you had to beat holland by 3 goals and archy gemil scored that wonder goal to make it 3..1 i was really cheering you on but over the yrs i got fed up with the scots hating us and now i want them to lose every game and also want Murray to lose every time he plays tennis
To be honest, at the grand old age of 30 I'm fairly non-plussed about England. If you win then I'm happy for you, if you don't then I'm not really fussed. It is funny when you lose out in hilarious ways (last minute goals, commentators saying "only one or two of these Germans would get in the England team" before you get horsed etc) but ultimately I'm not fussed.
I should also point out that this doesn't happen for other sports. I jumped up and celebrated Johnny Wilkinsons drop goal that won you the World Cup. I was delighted when Flintoff helped you win the Ashes (despite not really caring about cricket).
It's just really football that most people have a problem with England about up here.
Weare
Hate is a strong word, it should be reserved for really deserving individuals like John Terry.
and a certain ex Spurs centre back
and Howard Webb!
weare,
you gotta rise above that bud. its easy to get sucked into that train of thought sometimes.
remember that for every Scots fan takin the mick, theres an England fan doing likewise.
i cheer the Scots on,except when we play them of course.
You have to feel for our poor Northern neighbours..
Football = Shocking.
Rugby - Ditto
Cricket = For civillized nations only.
Their weather = Shocking.
And they have Alex Salmond to contend with.
No, it's no fun being a Scot at the moment.
nice wind up Harry.
agree about the cricket though.
Rugby - Ditto

Apart from that you're pretty much spot on.
i'd rather have Alex Salmond than any of those reptiles in Westminster
Ivan,
is that true about the cricket?
if so, fair play Scotland.
I think it is anyway
Or maybe it's just the North East of Scotland
I'm not sure
ad hoops
Couldn't resist a little dig, they did dig up Wembly after all
I dont hate the scots and who can blame either side for having passions when you look at our historys..i used to do the catering for a lot of durns nights and always had great fun and had to follow the piper and knock back a double whisky after he stabbed the haggis .. hate the stuff and was always that cheap rubbish.. bells ,
fair dos Harry.
weare,
cant stand haggis, or bagpipes for that matter.ive never tossed the caber (well, thats not entirely true )and i dont wear a skirt.
now, who fancies a good ol knees up, English style.whos up for a bit of morris dancing?
I had a great time at Murrayfield a few years ago, I stopped at a small hotel outside Edinburgh and had a brilliant time with the hotel owner and the locals.
The owner was a retired shool teacher who claimed that he couldn't find a bar that kept his kind of drinking hours so he bought his own.
Top fella and the locals, I think I came close to alcohol poisoning though
HA! nice one Harry, a good mate of mine went to Scotland to some old pub where (obviously) Whiskey was the drink of choice. over 100 different types of blend were on offer.
he asked for a gin and tonic.
no wonder they dont like us.
morris dancimng is welsh ? good old cockney knees up
went to see a guy last night who won the Elvis competetion .. greta night . he looked like Elvis sang like him and blooody danced like him .. my other half is still dribbling and drolling over him
i ask for a lemon in my barcardi in scotland and got called a tart by the barman
I think judging on today's performance we may have overrated the Dutch a tad but the Germans are still quality and will go far in this tournament. Portugal are a great attacking side but when they play defensively? Not for me.
Spain, Italy and of course the Froggies will also be very very strong and Russia might do well.
As for England? Not sure we'll progress out of the group.
i like the jocks ( no offense Ivan ).
they are pretty cool guys, just dont get into a drinking contest with them, i tried it once,
never again.
A bucket of ice cold water required for Mrs Weare I fear
my scotish mate used to get really angry when i beat him at pool.. i was just to good for him but had to let him win sometimes as i thought he might belt me
Fred-i'm not convinced by italy i have to say. russia could spring another big surprise
spain are an odd one-easily the best squad but they've been very hit and miss since the World Cup-can't see them winning 3 tournaments in a row either
my money's on Germany
Holland will beat Germany. I just have that feeling. They are a team filled with egotistical individuals but if those individuals (Robben) turn up and deliver then I can see a shock result.
