Paul, Kagawa is like how Park was at PSV. Great dribbling skills, technically excellent, good finisher.
Kissing cameras - Ive just turned on the tv so presume Japan Aus is half time. How did Kagawa do in the first half if he was indeed playing in CM? What formation were Japan playing?
He's got the work ethic of a young Park Ji Sung, but with a lot of talent. Play him behind a front man and he'll pick passes through the defence all day long. Welbeck & Rooney must have semis thinking about it.
The Wonderfully Sweet Little Pea, I do not know, I just switched it over.
Nice ball from Kagawa there.

Every midfield we've ever had (and all other teams) have been dominated at some point or another. It's part of football. Even when we had Keane and Scholes in his prime we were dominated in matches. We also did our fair share of dominating last season. I'm not saying that we couldn't do with a Modric or a Fellaini but if we started next season with just the same squad with Kagawa i'm certain we'd do well.
No matter what we spend we're still likely to be second best to City who can afford to buy the very best players for every position. Like it or not, the Glazers may well think what's the point of spending £100 million to try and keep up with City when they can spend £20-30 million a season to come second or third and still get Champions League money.
Aussie down to ten men, Japan should dominate now.

Australia are a decent team. Beat Serbia in the WC who beat Germany who beat England!

I think it will be a matter of being sensible with the money that we do have available. There are still players out there available at realistic prices that can make us competitive. It might just be that sometimes we have to give them a couple of years to develop, whereas City can buy ready made players. In reality that isn't such a big change from the way we have always operated. We do make some big signings in there of course, but we also place a lot of emphasis on promoting through the ranks and bringing in talented youngsters and developing them.

The point is, Chelsea are adding the likes of Hazard, Marin, Hulk, possibly Fellaini.
City already have Toure, Nasri, Silva.
I don't think adding only Kagawa will be enough to win us back the title. Just my opinion.
Australia are in Iraq's group as well, my parents home country, and they are a pretty decent team. Probably the best in the group.
BTW funrob, the examples I used of midfields getting the better of ours were just a few examples of teams we should be getting the better of, I missed the likes of Bilbao, City, Liverpool and Spurs.
And before you start with agg scores, Liverpool at their place overwhelmed us, I still don't undertsand how we beat Spurs and I don't think I even need to mention Bilbao or City.

Park has shown himself to be a Korean Nicky Butt so I'd be happy with that
Yeah, I highly doubt we'll win the league next season whoever we get. But I see that as just how it is. We've had a great run and now we're in an era where there are genuinely 3 or 4 teams who can challenge for the title and as long as we're not too far behind whoever may win it and we're still involved in the final weeks of the season we can't be too unhappy considering that the interest we pay every season to service the debts could buy us top class players to rival City and Chelsea.
I dreamt the other week that Sir Alex retired at the end of this season, Guardiola took over just as the Qatari's bought the club and the first signing was Lionel Messi. Could happen!

Talking of midfield, anyone remember the 99 final v bayern?
remember our midfield on that day?
