Oh come on now... isn't about time people get off hodgson's back and accept the players he picks, lots of good players got left out not just Rio, personally i'm glad he was left out as no one as a right to think there name should be the first picked for there countries.

I understood that it was Chelsea that requested the delay, because they didn't want this happening mid season etc, and it wouldn't surprise me if Terry was also behind that as he knew it could kill his Euro chances.

The major blame lies with the idiot magistrate that granted the delay. This issue is far too serious for a football club/authority to dictate the timing, and if the same timings had been applied that happen for every other normal person then this issue would have been resolved already.

Ffs stop bitching about rio an get behind the team, it's embarrassing.

IMO the FA have handled the matter badly.

I know “innocent until proven guilty” but the FA saw fit to strip Terry of the captaincy over the matter yet still make him available for selection.

Who cares. I am glad Rio didn't get picked. He can put his feet up, relax and rest up for the start of the season for what is actually important, playing for United.

However, there should be a rule that if a player has a court case he should be suspended until a verdict is reached.

was bowyer not banned for playing for England when he was due to be in court? I also loosely remember Alan Smith being removed from a squad because he was under investigation for throwing a bottle into the crowd??

I don't think the FA were wrong to suspend Terry from the captaincy, which is the same as strip him of it, as it could be given back in theory IF he was proved innocent. You can't have the current captain/leader of England on a racism charge following the CPS having evidence they want to present in court.

I personally wouldn't have picked him while this was going on and said that age old line of giving someone time to focus on their case and prove their innocence. However I also can see why the FA said that he could continue to at least be picked if the manager wanted to while he is still not proved guilty. Being picked is very different from being the countries figure head and leader.

I am still gobsmacked that the case was delayed until after the Euros. What a way to show that racism isn't really an important issue. Just put it on the back burner due to a game.

I agree Arab Elvis, the magistrate was a total fool.

It was Chelsea that asked for this so he could play for club and country. The FA should have stepped in here if they where to get involved.

Yeah I agree re the origin of the request Gawa, and shock horror Terry wanted the case delayed until after the Euros, what's amazing is the magistrate agreed!!

I know, its just completely idiotic - its clear as day Kelly will not be close to the levels Rio reached.

Sure they left Kelly in the hotel to make sure their rooms got cleaned yesterday!

the fact Rio isnt in the squad doesnt bother me, the fact Terry is in the squad does.

Had this been anyone else, accused of racism whilst at work they would be suspended pending investigation.

Because Terry is "mr lionheart" (wheres the puke smiley when you need it) he gets rewarded by being given the honour of representing his country.

Wayne bridge also missed out on the world cup because of this t 0 5 5 e r, and it seems everytime something happens to disrupt the squad, he is bang in the centre of it.

i wouldnt say this about anyone else but i honestly hope someone ends his career as i hate him that much.

No, Wayne Bridge missed out on the World Cup because he is a pathetic excuse of a man. Terry slept with his ex girlfriend? Big deal.

Why can't people see Bridge for what he is?? I couldn't even be bothered to explain how much of a tube he is. And this isn't a defence of John Terry, he's not a nice guy!

Was Terry not married at the time - if Bridge is pathetic what does that make Terry?

whether or not it was his ex or not, the fact is, there was disruption due to Terry.

Like I said, it wasn't a defence of John Terry. Everybody knows what he's like.

There's always going to be some disruption. I tell you something, I wouldn't give up the chance of playing in a World Cup just because a team mate slept with an ex girlfriend. I'd be more interested in seeing if she did anything new or exciting with him. Jesus, Bridge made himself look like a child when in actual fact the only people who should have been upset and distraught are John Terry's wife and kids.

Wake up guys

i agree mate, and im not saying terry was entirely to blame and that bridge wasnt a plank for not going to the world cup.
what i am saying tho is due to terry's actions it caused a whole media frenzy, and disruption in the squad.

You wouldnt be bothered if someone who was supposed to be one of your best mates slept with your ex? Even if she was the mother of your child and you still had feelings for her? I doubt there are many that would agree with that.
