I have more optimism for the league Davie, I don't think it will be all doom and gloom. And Rangers should be back in 3 years so there would, in the near future, be a huge economic injection into the league.
Scottish football might just see the emergence of more young players (holding on to them is another debate) and if you look at the u21s they are holding their own against other teams at the moment.
The great Scottish sides were never built on cash. Different sport now but the game has almost ground to a halt as it is. Maybe this would be the radical shake up it needs.

Unfortunately you're also right about the sloth-like decision making of the SFA. ps,Also, If we only had 3 divisions Rangers would be back a year sooner!
