I havent heard anyone defending him.

I have heard a lot of people calling him a complete berk for ending up being the most talked about subject for the last few weeks because he was stupid enough to try to cover it up.

Had he just held his hands up and given the equivalent statement to "its a fair cop", it wouldn't have been anywhere near the furore there has been.

The difference with JT is that because he was respected as England captain, to do what he did to a team mate of both club and country, came as a bit of a shock.

Giggs private life has always been kept quite and he has always seemed a decent guy and everyone in football has huge respect for him prior to this so the impact won't be as big. Also Imogen is a looker!

Agree with Not a number. There's big difference between the "public interest" and the "public titillation". This is clearly the latter. O.k. the guy shouldn't have done it, but these Red Tops don't seem to care how many lives they ruin so long as it sells newspapers.
If you are well known, I suppose you always run the risk of some soppy slapper playing sh^g & tell.
I'm afraid he should have thought of that, or kept it in his pants.

For what it's worth. Ryan Giggs was one of the few "model professionals" or so we thought and was nearly universally respected.

John Terry, Ashley Cole and Gerrard already had a string of off field affair and spats before the 2010/2011 season and they weren't as loved by all fans as Giggs appeared to be.

The two things that strike me most about this is no matter how much players say they love their wife, with all the women throwing themselves at them even people you wouldn't expect it of can shock you.

and secondly the media has been out to get a lot of players/pundits ever since the Rooney story broke. I mean the Sun tapped Andy Gray's phone. Just makes you wonder, the sun owned by Murdoch creates the stories and more emphasis on these guys. People then want to see them and Sky has a lot of these on their TV.

Possibly a mad conspiracy or clever marketing to sell more papers and Sky subscriptions?

As has been said many times, what footballers do in their private lives is absolutely none of our buisiness. This is not a subject which should interest a football fan, more for women reading OK! magazine.

However saying that what does interest me is this injuction issue. What else is hidden from the public with these laws? I don't care about what footballers do with their free time, it is none of my buisiness but what the government is getting up to, with my taxes for example is certainly cause for concern.

Ryan Giggs has been a great player at the top level for many years at one club. There aren't many like him. A pure joy to watch and has won nearly everything in the game, which he had the chance to win. What he does in his spare time away from the pitch doesn't change that fact.

It is morally wrong but who are we to judge him? It has nothing to do with us. I have no doubt many of us have made the same mistake but with less temptation that he has to deal with.
