He has been at Spurs for FOUR years.
Yeah he has been given permission to leave the Olympic squad for a medical with unknown club this weekend.
Wish him luck tbh. Shame we couldn't keep him til January but then he wouldn't be worth as much with 6 months left on his contract.
Agreed Heraldo - shame he never got a decent run in the side but now is the right time to sell. I've got a feeling he'll do well in Spain.
I don't normally say this, but I hope he DOES come back to haunt us at some point, it'd be nice to see a smile on the little fella's boat race after being treated so badly.
Good luck gio, we hardly knew ye.
Wish we'd at least given him a run in the team before dumping him. From what I hear/read he always seems to do well for Mexico, even against good opposition. Not too sure whether the team is set up to work for him but just feels like we never gave him a chance like we did with bale around jan 2010
Was a talent at Barca.
shame
Wonder what fee Levy has managed to extract from his new club?
There was a bid from Udinese a while ago I think for around £12m, but Gio didnt want to go. Cant imagine Levy will get that much from Spain now with only 12 months left on his contract, although I wouldnt put it past Levy to make a profit on him, whats the bet it will be `undisclosed`.
Another player who we have ruined. I wish him luck elsewhere
Cheer up Chronic - it's Friday
How come the general consensus on here is that Spurs have ruined him?
He seemed a good player from what i saw of him, and given some game time to get his touch and some confidence we could have been in a better position to judge him. Its a shame he is leaving us, but wish him well.
Let's hope in at his new club "he manages to pass a nightclub as well as he passes a ball"
Mr Chelsea - He was at WHL for whole of Harry's reign, where he was dumped at the sidelines and never given a chance, despite him proving for his country he is a talent
Absolutely gutted - another player wanting to leave the club due to Harry imo.
I reckon he will in time prove much better than VdV in a similar position (CAM, license to roam).
Damn you Harry
Gawd you people are negative this evening
For every Gio there's been a Kaboul, Bale, BAE, Modric, Sandro... sure he looks good for Mexico but he obviously didn't do enough in training (or the Europa) to be in the first team.
Dos santos was given enough chances with us especially early on in his spurs career. He was'nt good enough to make any position his own.He certainly looked like he had potential but never really produced any effective performances when given opportunities.
As much as I thank HR for what he did, he is always regarded as a players manager. Why the hell have so many of our player like GDS, Bentley, Bent and several more been blanked by him over the years. Proves he had his favourite clique of players, and maybe had grudges.
Lennon's
I don't mean to put the lad down but he had chances on loan in the past couple of seasons and never earned a move.. sad we didn't see the best of him but I don't think we ever would've done.
Onwards and upwards for all concerned
How can anyone say he was given enough chances. ?
How Many games did he start?
How Many successive games? I will guess on 0 for that
How Many appearances did he even make? At a guess I would say 15 max including subs. And i can remember at least 3 goals he scored. One a screamer. And there may be more.
He never was given a proper chance IMO
How many players did Ferguson sign that did not make the grade at United? Buying players can be a hit & miss affair & they can fail for a number of reasons.
I in all honesty thought he was lightweight & never really suited us.
Greaves. How do we know? He hasn't been given a chance? Modric looked lightweight when he first came. We didn't think he could play in the middle so we stuck him on the wings
It takes players time to adapt
If gio was a big money signing like modric
Was I bet we would have given him time. As he was cheap he got cast off and no one blinked when he wasn't getting minutes. It's a shame as I actually think last season during our slump he would have been quote useful just for a shake up and his unpredictablity. Let's face it, the main players were not performing for a good three months !
Chronic...................I see your point of view, but I still feel in the games he either started or came on he was something of a headless chicken.
Modric, once he had adjusted to the pace of the PL was just fine.
Genius also you have to admit that the games he featured in were rarely league games. So he was not often playing with the first team. With better players around him he may have shone more.
Also because of his lack of opportunities I bet when he did play he thought he had to make the most of it or e wouldnt get another chance and so literally did run around like a headless chicken.
Gio is class for Mexico, but how well has he done out on loan? Clearly not very well, so scouts at Spurs obviously haven't seen enough evidence that he is worth keeping. Not saying I'm not slightly disappointed to see him go. Probably won't ever wear my 08/09 home shirt with his name on the back again now.
