Unlikely,Rangers failed to honour the players contracts so the players were well within their right to move on a free transfer.

how so?

The compo, if any, should go to RFC PLC and pay creditors.

The last club to hold their contracts

RFC PLC liquidated and as such, cannot honour those players contracts.

Making them free agents

again, how have the contracts not been nonoured?

What can FIFA do though?

posted on 30/6/12

Because Rangers liquidated and because they had to take a 75% pay cut.

Charlie,

It's the players registrations that are required by their new clubs...FIFA can say yes or no

oops

the contracts were to be passed over and honoured,so how was there a breach?

If anythin their contract was breached months ago when they took a pay cut ffs,why didn't they do somethin then?

Fifa will decide if Rangers are due any comp for the players, which they wont.

True...is exactly what D&P as administrators should have done.

But they could only have went to Russia, Sweden, Norway etc...

this isnt anything to do with the pay cut that was taken; this is purely down to the TUPE legislation.

this legislation was set up to allow companies to transfer a large number of employees from one company to another; it is often used to move people from a UK company to a foreign one (before people are subsequently laid off and replaced by cheap foreign workers).

this TUPE transfer is NOT compulsary. if an individual chooses not to move to the new company, they are effectively released from their contract of employment and can move on.

the interesting thing is that this refusal is considered to be a resignation of employment (so no redundancy pay is paid). what this means in terms of the playing contracts that are signed i dont know, but i am guessing that the Players Union lawyers can already decided that they are effectively null and void.

thats pretty much all i know.

Btw,

For all the negativity Celtic and Rangers receive and the Spl in general...added to Maloney, McCarthur, McCarthy, that's more players off to the EPL

Hector.....they took a huge cut in wages and in return the club agreed to lower their valuations in the event of a transfer. Had they stayed the price would have been this value which would have allowed them to negociate a higher signing on fee. They saw an opportunity to increase this fee even more and at the same time deny the club of any fee. They were very temporary honourable heroes but now are seen as selfish and greedy.

They could have demanded Rangers honour their contracts and that would have been that, you wouldn't have finished the season.
I totally understand why you are peeved but it cannot have come as a surprise, nor can you blame them.

hector why are you all of a sudden sticking up for guys like naisy and whitts, you hated them when they were there

Not sticking up for anyone, just giving reasons why you guys are wrong to castigate them.

TCD....we all have different ideas of who should get the money but had they gone to the newco with their new contracts with the new valuations and been transferred in the up and coming window, the club WOULD have got the money. One things certain it's not OK for millionaires like Naismith and Whittaker to make even more money, greedy barstewards all of them

posted on 30/6/12

Hector....I'm obviously naiive cos I think what I would have done and it's not what they did. I know I think like a supporter but Naismith has continually kissed the badge etc and has now gone for nothing. It will not be forgotten and he will be remimded everywhere he goes.

That's not naive, it's childish.

I accept that it's a sore one, but they don't owe anyone any thing.

I've slagged Naismith, Whittaker etc for years but they are journeymen pro's, it's a short career you have to make what you can before age or injury curtails it.

If you where them, late 20's, 1 maybe 2 more contracts before you retire, wouldn't you hate to play in the lower echelons when you have better, brighter options, options that solely depend on you being a free agent?
