We may bring in another striker but as a replacement for Chamakh rather than a replacement for RVP.
The thing that is worrying me most this Summer is not the almost inevitable departure of RVP but the fact we have not sold Chamakh, Vela, Denilson, Park, Squillaci, and tonnes of the other deadwood that still remains at the club. I mean I know they are crap but come on, if United can get £5M for Ji Sung Park then surely we can get a couple hundred thousand for Squillaci!!!
^^^^^^^
My sentiments aswell,
denny still on loan in brazil i heard, vela is off to sociadad
the others though
I wouldn't mind keeping Bendtner Batmanu. He is at least a proven goal scorer in England and we may need him next season.
Still remember how he rescued us when RVP was injured at one point 2 seasons ago. He scored like 6 consecutive winners.
Bendtner
Verminator I wouldn't mind keeping him either, he is miles better than Chamakh. The point I'm making is that the club is trying to sell these players but have no takers.
Guys, Giroud is rvp replacement. We will NOT buy another striker
^Agreed.
We may have to invest in some squad depth in this area, but I think in Podolski and Giroud, we have two players able to adequately replace Van Persie.
I hope we use the RVP money to get a top class midfielder who can really dominate games.
People go on and on about how great Rosicky has been but I'm not convinced at all. The guy is 32 years old, currently injured, and only had some good games in the run-in. The only game in which he really dominated the midfield like a proper top-class midfielder was in the 5-2 win vs Spurs.
He wasn't as good as people are making out.
We get it Verm, you don't like Rosicky. This you have made clear for a long time.
I do agree on needing a top midfielder though. Rosicky is 32 now as you said and we need a long term replacement for him IMO, someone already better than him as well. The problem is who we get though. Ganso?
Grow up Arsenal dog, I never said I 'don't like' Rosicky. I think he can be a valuable squad member but we must buy someone who is more consistent, reliable and effective.
You've always been negative about Rosicky Verm, even when he's played well. Looking at what you write it looks like you really don't like him, simple observation mate.
I rate rosicky, I think he's one of the best footballers we have at the club, but I don't think he is productive or effective enough. Two or three good performances won't change my whole opinion.
Hasn't he scored like 2 goals in 2 years? For an attacking midfielder, that is really poor. Even his assists figures aren't exactly amazing.
I just think we need to sign a midfielder in th mould of Mata/Silva. We need goals+assists from midfield, it would make us a more complete and dangerous team.
I've been saying we will not sign another striker for a while now and i firmly stand by that. RVP will run down his contract and Giroud and Podolski will be eased into the team. *Assuming RVP has another injury free season
I said this a few days ago that I actually think Rosicky just played for a new contract last season. Was it a coincidence that after looking disinterested for years he only starts putting an effort when there is doubt about him being offered a new contract. He may prove me wrong but I expect him to go start through the motions again.
Chamakh will be an arsenal player next season, nobody is going to pay his wages. The same problem lies with denilson/squilllaci/bendtner their demands are putting off clubs from buying them.
Rosicky is 31 now he isn't going to get any better now, last season he had a great run of form but for me ramsey will overtake him.
