Bad couple of days for him. Burned with a flare yesterday and carpet tacks on the road today where one guy ended up with broken collar bone. But yeah for a British sportsman criticising the sport of football, might alienate some of his fans.
Comment by Bradley Wiggins
"If that happened in a football stadium, or wherever, you'd be arrested, CCTV. But we're out there, quite vulnerable at times, very close to the public on climbs."
Nothing wrong with that.
I watch Le Tour on ITV not Eurosport so I did not view the interview. However, apparently he said ""There's enough police on the course to round them up and send them to football matches or something."
You need to take into consideration his sportsmanship in not racing after Cadel Evans had lost time.
Please come over to the Derby County board, we love nothing more than hair-splitting over comments made by our manager!
As a football fan, I couldn't care less what he says, I just hope Wiggins wins, because it will be a brilliant achievement if he can become the first English/British winner of the Tour in a hundred years in a sport dominated traditionally by mainland Europe.
I speak only as a leisure cyclist who finds the odd steep hill an ordeal. These cyclists must do long stretches of challenging terrain, day after day, so they must be physically exhausted & mentally drained - so I'd expect the odd faux pas as they are under stress.
Fingers crossed, Wiggins can win it
Wiggins dry wit can come across as cantankerous to the uninitiated
as far as being insulting to footballs- i showed my mitre ball the clip ,and it was unmoved
top man is brad wiggins-- you should have heard what he said about keyboard warriors--- these filters won't take it !
It will be a massive achievement, that will no doubt be recognised by the rest of the world but probably not by British Media in the same drooley way they fawn over tennis brits, or motor car drivers ---- its a class thing in my opinion
Nothing wrong with what he said. Found it rather amusing actually. You'd only find it insulting if it's true.
no.
is this your only comment about a truly heroic sporting perofrmance ?
pathetic.
British 1 and 2 in le Tour.
The "footballs" must be well insulted.
one of the great performances from a british sportsman imo.
truly heroic
Truly epic finish to an epic tour.
British cycling is well and truly on the map and all done clean!
err...no. Typical football fan to get upset over something so trivial.
Looking at the actual quote I can see any problem with it.
Olympic TT is Sat 10am if my memory serves. 40km long which is on par with the first TT of the TDF which Wiggo owned. Should be a good spectacle.
Admin1 - the Saturday race is the 250k road race.
The time trials take place on the following wednesday.
Ah good stuff. Will turn it on after the first 200k
