We still hold the aces if we are interested in him.
Every time we (Arsenal) are interested in a player a few days later Spurs are then interested. That's a small club mentality for you.
I think AVB must just read the BBC gossip pagesd and keep his eye out for anyone we are after... damn BBC!
Maybe we should speak to Emile's Heskey's agent and see if they go in for him?
If he is in London it looks like Spurs hold the aces, either that or Chelsea are looking to splash even more money this summer.
Gaston won't be moving to Anfield, he is out of our price range.
If Spurs were to acquire Allen and/or Ramirez and we were proven to be genuinely interested (like we were with Gylfi) then I would be annoyed... very annoyed.
Losing out to top European clubs, or clubs with more financial muscle in this country would be one thing, but to be repeatedly out muscled financially by Spurs would be unacceptable in my view.
Anyway, its all conjecture at the moment, but I think out interest in Allen appears genuine.
Or just because he is in the olympics squad who are based in London anyway

That would be very annoying, but we have to consider they may be selling Modric for lots of money giving them some extra muscle.

that is a very very good point....
the arsenal fans constantly bleat on about the best players will go to cl teams .....
but i dont know why they would join spurs who are in the europa league with us

And the sauce of this info being............???????
He is not out of our price range at all.
Quite like the look of him really. 9 goals from a wide position in a mid table side is encouraging.
He was a Comolli/Dalglish target. And we can't afford him anyway.

If BR takes Allen, then he'll have spent circa £25/26M, do you think he'd then be able to pay the best part of £20M for Ramirez without balancing the books???
I'll have you a sportmans wager, that his net spend is nowehere near £45M come the end of the window.

Okay I guess but I'm genuinely not bothered. I see no reason to think that the board will not spend as they have the last two windows. There is more money from the telly and sponsorship and I can see a few players leaving before September.
I don't think money is the problem. Either BR wants him or he doesn't. Also, with BR in the USA, Ian Ayre bombing about like a blue ***** fly possibly trying to do deals considered more central than Gaston, that could be the reason for delay. Sad to say, but I think it is somewhat inevitable that BR will sell. I wonder who will be for the hop? JimmyTheRed
Hoody - I originally said, could you see them spending that sort of money WITHOUT him having to balance the books? hence my mention of net spend - you said yes.

I can see Agger going unfortunately I would be livid if it happens.
Would not surprise me if Reina went.
Writing is on the wall for Adam IMO but I don't think anyone would match his wages.
Obviously Cole and Aqua could go.
I actually think Carroll will stay.

I can if that helps. I don't think they will worry too much. We will let some players go but balancing the books can be done through wages.
Maxi has gone, Cole could go as could Aqua. That's £250k per week = £12m a year plus employers NI of 12%.
