AIDY BOOTHROYD says he is still willing to hand Michael Hoganson a contract at Cobblers - despite hearing the winger played for Derby County on Saturday.

Hoganson has been offered a one-year deal by Boothroyd, but chose to play for the Rams at Burton Albion instead of for Town against Chelsea Under 21s.

The former Newcastle United wide man, who shone in Cobblers’ 4-0 win at Cogenhoe United on Wednesday, could now be back at Sixfields on Tuesday, playing for Derby.

Boothroyd was happy to joke about the prospect of the 18-year-old facing his side but was more serious when asked about the possibility of a deal for the player.

“He was offered a contract and we may well see him on Tuesday because he’s gone to Derby so if he plays for them then great,” said Boothroyd after seeing Cobblers lose 2-0 to Chelsea Under 21s.

“He’ll get a game in their reserves and under 18s and if that’s what he wants to do then it’s fine by me.

“The offer’s still there for him. It won’t be there for much longer but he’ll decide what he wants to do and we’ll go from there.

“If he plays on Tuesday I’ll run on and kick him myself. I’ll run on and two foot him and his agent.”

Would love to see derby offer him a contract, looked decent and comfortable on the ball

That's a bit petty of Boothroyd! Free agent, wants to get best deal. If I was the Hog, I wouldn't sign for the Cobblers now.

Shouldn't the likes of 666 and robrea now be screaming blue murder at Boothroyd for 'disgusting, unprofessional behaviour'?

Or does it only count when Clough does it?

Haven't seen the interview but it sounds a bit tongue-in-cheek, quite unlike the blubbering wail-fest from our joke of an appointment.

I may not be the most impartial to judge though

So that's a 'Yes', then.

If you see the two mangers' comments as being equal, then I suspect you're one of Colbi's fake accounts, such is your delusion.

So by your own admission you haven't seen the interview, 666, but you have already qualified yourself as eligible to make a judgement by means of comparison.

Don't you see the hypocrisy in such a statement, you befuddled pompous idiot?

I've read them both, but clearly 'context' isn't easily discerned in text: that's why I qualified my assessment with that disclosure. You seem to want to pounce on something that I readily volunteered and parade it as an admission by omission: smacks of desperation to me. Ths is exactly the sort of nonsense I'd expect from your other ID

Clough revealed details that were solely intended to cause trouble for the lad who'd already made his decision: hardly the same sort of thing Boothroyd's doing, is it?

Me, pounce on something you said?

I thought that was the whole point. After all, neither of us have anything constructive to say - it's a messageboard where the only things expressed are opinions and banalities.

Sorry, last time I'll use that!!

It's a nice site, but follows the same template that most of the Championship sides follow. They should put some more "news" on there to tempt fans to check in everyday.
